Some old timers include Al Hostak, Tacoma's Freddy Steele, Tod (Bert Pilkington) Morgan,
Nanaimo's Billy Townsend, Vic Foley, Doc Snell, Denny Moyer, Eddie Cotton, Ray Lampkin
and many more.

Yeah, there were a number of good boys back in the day fighting in BC, Washington, etc. Lightweights Billy Lauder, Harry Anderson, Clonie Tait, Johnny O'Leary, Roughhouse Charlie Burns and Joe Bayley; middleweights like Billy Weeks, Frank Barrieau and Al Ross. They were the marquee names in the great Northwest prior to the 1920s.

Zelley, another is former light-heavy contender "Young Firpo" (Guido Bardelli), whom the World Boxing Hall of Fame will induct this coming November 15th in it's post humous catagory. Young Firpo fought out of Burke, Idaho and beat many of the greats of his era, including Tiger Jack Fox, Leo Lomski, Wesley K.O. Ketchell and drew with John Henry Lewis.

In recent years we have had the likes of Victoria born Donny Lalonde and currently
there is another Donny from Victoria called Donny Orr.

It was a surprise that Orr was selected for the Canadian Olympic team for 2000, but he
made the trip and competed only to drop his opening bout.

How he does as the years roll by is anybody's guess. :TU:
