I'm sure he will drop down to middleweight.

Fernando Guerrero was the semi-main event on the same card and his bout was shown on ShowBox. He looked good.

Hal put on an amazing event and got tremendous support from everyone in Salisbury. The dedication he has put forth in Main Street Gym, and the people who back his young boxers all should be proud of the diffences they are making in their community. This event was not just a pro boxing match, but a community coming together in Salisbury through boxing. I was glad I made the trip to come see these fights. It was the most impressive crowd of any boxing event I've ever been to, both professional and amateur. I havent watched it On Demand yet, but I already know that the televised program wont due justice to the atmosphere that I experienced live in the house!
I was very impressed with Shawn and Fernando. The guy in the seat next to me thought Shawn was in a different weight class than his opponent.... Shawn made good on my prediction that it wouldn't go past the first round. I swear Fernando actually knocked teeth out of his guys mouth, I've never seen that outside the movies. The under card was also well matched and entertaining.
Man I had a blast and this was an event that is going to be talked about for years to come in Maryland!

Dennis. It was a real Cinderella night for Fernando and I. My hometown showed so much support that I had a little problem holding it together. The show went off great and the fans both local and on Tv were given a great night of entertainment. I was proud to lend my support to Shawn and Kenny by working Shawns corner with Kenny. The crowd got the message and embraced him like he in his hometown. It was almost surreal. I am so very proud of this community and they are still buzzing from it. The next day. Fernando, and his brother, sister and dad as well as my pregnant daughter from Co., my wife and I ran a 5K. it was a lot of fun. Fernando came in 2nd of about 250 and had not gone to bed at all. I made it a little further back in the pack.........alright a lot further back and I never should have drank coffee before the run. but at least I think they didn't have to serve as much food to the observers of my gastronomical fireworks because of it.

Luke - on HBO you could tell that there was an excited crowd. The commentators mentioned it numerous times that Fernando packed the place and that if he ever fights for a world title in the Salisbury area, they will need to hold it in a huge football stadium. I think they said the U of Maryland stadium, but they might have said some other stadium. I was just impressed when they said the gate was 6,200 or something similar. These are the types of cards that boxing needs and should have all across the country on a weekly basis. Then the sport would grow and get a lot more TV coverage.lukerunion wrote:Hal put on an amazing event and got tremendous support from everyone in Salisbury. Luke - you are also correct that it has to be experienced live to really appreciate it. The same thing can be said for most sporting events. Kenny Porter called me after Shawn had stopped his opponent and I could barely hear him due to the crowd noise in the background. They were yelling and screaming and just having a good time.

You ran a 5K? Are you sure the fans would call it running? Maybe a Sunday stroll?

Yea, Fernando comes back on the road to meet me and run to the finish line with me. So I sprinted like I was still young opr something and when I crossed the line He was so impressed he put his hand on my back as I leaned over to tell me how good I did. Meanwhile I am blowing pre drank coffee all over the ground, needless to say he backed off me a little.
