I don't wanna see Hatton vs Mesquita!!!!!!!!!!

It seems to me, especially with the short amount of time left, that Mesquita is the likely opponent for Hatton!

I have no interest in this fight, no way do I want to see an opponent Hatton was supposed to fight a couple of years ago.

Sorry but this is a damn disgrace, I have lost all interest in this guys career. I hope he gets beat soon!

i know its depressing but looks like were gonna have to put up with it until september

i was having a look on hatton's website yesterday and from a hatton interview i read it seems like he wasn't too keen on mitchell in june as it was so close to his last fight. but he said in september he'd be fighting mitchell.

I can't see that, I'm sure Mitchell won't be hanging around just waiting for Hatton, he has bigger fish to fry.

Mitchell wont fight Hatton in September if zoo comes back, to much of a risk for mitchell (cause he will lose) so he will wait for zoo

Hatton is becoming a joke I'm afraid!.... sadly the joke is largely on the poor buggers that shell out their hardearned cash to see Ricky beat up on another over-the-hill lightweight!. Disgraceful!. I haven't even bothered watching Hattons last couple of 'fights' live... 8)

Warren sees Mitch beating Hatton, that's why he's avoiding him. Can't do Ricky boy's confidence much good, all this caution.

So.......another Brazilian no show possibility, as he's done once or twice before. Wonder how many lightweights are on standby?

Check out this record-padding stiff (I guess he was hard up for beer money) who appears on Mesquita's record no less than FIVE times:

That's not to say Mesquita sucks or anything, just that his record is vastly inflated - only 8 wins vs. guys with winning records (3 more than the very-similarly padded Pinto has, but Pinto has a similar percentage of winners, just has fewer fights.)

Actually, if you look at the 2 or 3 prospects with the gaudiest records on this guy's re'sume' you probably have a list of prospective Hatton opponents, at least on the South American side. Besides Mesquita, you have Edson Nascimento (not to be confised with a famous Brazilian soccer player of yore), who is an impressive 44-0-1, record unbelievably padded, ranked in the top 50 at lightweight, i.e. another safely smaller guy. Perfect! ;)

With Jonhson fighting JC and Hatton vs TBA anyone who thinks that Hatton would be fighting a top fighter on this card is just plain naive.

JC could pack out cardiff on his own and you are getitng two headliners one in a REAL world title fight, the other is bound to be a marking time fight.

Its business sense.

While I would love to see Hatton in with a real top live contender at least he is fighting a "decent" opponent, and yes he has to step it up it never was gonna be on this bill.

Im not defending this but looking at it subjectively and from a business angle, it makes perfect sense.

Sorry but money makes the world go round.

I think that showtime would have backed it if a deal for Mitchell vs Hatton had been done and dusted before, or at least as soon as they got through their last fights.
Hatton should have the balls to tell to Frank that it isn't good enough. All the top guys have publicly stated they'd fight Hatton (some even at short notice), but he's still fighting relative non-entities. He's going nowhere at the moment, and it seems he doesn't really mind.

All Im trying to say at this point is we shouldnt expect that he would fight a mitchell, gatti, cotto on this card as Calazaghe / Johnson is mouthwatering enough.

To say those fans who are going are mugs is bullshit imo, no we are boxing fans who get to see one cracking real title fight and another big named fighter against an unbeaten opponent on the same night.

I'm going to do some disagreeing mate. Last year Hatton was saying that this was going to be his big year. Admitedly the Pinto fiasco wasn't his fault, but if he fights decent opposition in september it may well be his last fight of the year (win or lose), unless he's to fight towards christmas (he's done it before i think). That, IMO, is not a big year. Also before and after the Pinto/Pederson debacle he was saying that he'd be fighting a name in the summer. September is, to me at least, not summer. He could potentially had three big fights this year. Pinto, followed by Mitchell on this bill, followed by another big name in september if he beat Mitchell. Instead he's fought Pederson, followed that up with Mesquita, and to be honest who knows who'll come over in the fight after this.

As for the MEN fans. You're half right, the real boxing fans know what they're getting themselves into and will go because the rest of the card looks good. However, the more casual fans will go because it's Hatton. Whether they are aware of it or not they are mugs. They're being done out of a meaningful match up because Mr Warren knows that he can get away with it.

FAIR ASSESSMENT MATE, not disagreeing with that at all apart from the mugs part, of course the promoters know they can put a slightly sub standard opponenent in with Hatton off the back of the Calzaghe fight.

I cant wait for this fight to be honest, surely that doesnt make me a mug tho?

If the main event is JC vs Johnson you normally get tickets sold off the back of that, to have hatton fighting anyone as a support is in my opinion a result. So those who have bought tickets you are intuitive visionaries not mugs hahah but I would say that I bought seven lol!
