Hayemaker Promotions
Calzaghe's got a promotion company starting
Hatton's got Punch pack promotions or whatever it's called.
You have FW etc too........ is there enough boxing out there to satisfy all these promotional companies ?
Too many promotional company's ?

Re: Too many promotional company's ?
Depends who the new kids on the block sign / poach.
However a contract is a contract.
A Promotional Company cannot survive without a TV deal.
On the basis that everyone who exists today now has one, and the new entrants all claim to have deals in principal then yes there's enough to satisfy everyone.

Re: Too many promotional company's ?
In a lot of cases lately a promotional company is set up purely so that an already established fighter can cut out the middle man and get a bigger share of the pot. It makes sense too because at that point there is less reliance on the likes of allegedly to get fights made.
Look at Hatton, Winky Wright, Mayweather, Haye, Jones Jr, Calzaghe and many others. Are these guys actually serious about running proper promotional companys or do they want a few lads on their books in order to fill an undercard on their show? In the case of Haye, he probably comes across as most ambitious because he has already put on a well attended show he didn't feature on himself.
Personally I don't think any active fighter should be getting heavily involved with real promoting, De La Hoya aside who has been semi retired for years anyway. Fair enough, use your name if necessary and let a few lads behind the scenes take care of business but don't do it if it becomes a distraction. Haye appears to have decent guys around him who know what they're doing.
Ultimately most of these mickey mouse promotional outfits I would take with a pinch of salt. There are arguments for and against them. The Warrens, Moloneys and Hennesseys of the world will always be in demand to build a fighter into a name, but after that I believe increasingly these guys will be dropped when a fighter hits the big time. It will be interesting how this may affect long term contracts in the future to prevent the likes of Calzaghe & Hatton walking away without an additional lucrative golden parachute clause written in for the promotor.

I still think there is room for a Boxing channel in this digital age and I think the NON TV promoters need to work TOGETHER to fund the project.

i agree . not necessarilly that the non tv promoters should put together but someone should . it would be great . theres enough fights happening around the globe to show . some will be drivel but we would all like the option of watching the drivel . documentaries could be shown on certain promoters , gyms or fighters , past fights could be shown , local shows , allsorts . it would be greatstujones wrote:I still think there is room for a Boxing channel in this digital age and I think the NON TV promoters need to work TOGETHER to fund the project.
