Err...yes it has

So by your reckoning Mike Tyson made his millions through his endearing woman-loving personality rather than his violent KO wins which funnily enough happens to be down to his ability in the ring.

It may not be the case anymore but to say it has never happened is just daft.

He's an Arab, not Asian.

Try calling Naz Asian and see what he says

He is an Arab but he's still Asian. It's me claiming I'm Irish, but not European - it's absurd. Yemen is an Arab country located on the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia.

Oh god you have chosen the worst possible person to back up your argument

Tyson made his millions because he drew money, pure and simple.

Same with Ali, same with anyone you can come up with

What did he do first, knock people out or draw money?

He drew money because of what he did in the ring, same as Duran, Hagler, Chavez, Benitez, Benn etc. etc.

None of them had a pot to piss in when they turned pro, they fought for money and the more exciting they were(obviously due to their boxing ability) the more money they made, it's simple.

OK, here we go again.... No boxer, in the history of the world, has ever gotten paid because of his ability. Boxers get paid for what they bring to the table, wither ticket sales, PPV buys, TV ratings or a belt that the promoter wants for his fighter

Boxers getting paid because of their ability in the ring?

Your quite right, Naz isn't 'Asian' - I implied that Naz is of Arabic decent and was born within the Arabic Peninsula, home of Islamic holy cities such as Mecca & Medina - and obviously Pakistan is an Islamic republic and thus held a ready-made appeal with young British Muslims which his promoter identified as being an extra selling point.

I think Mike Tyson got paid for his ability - it wasn't his charisma or Ali-like interviews was it that brought him the paydays? I dare say he was the biggest earner in our sport ever.

But i definitely understand your sentiment :TU:

Degale said he was going professional a day after we knew that Edwards would probably be staying.

To be Asian is geographic you dummies. The Arab Peninsula is still in Asia.

Yes & they did it at a higher level that WBO international level. They had ability and the image to go with it. Obviously Tyson's many farces mid/late career still drew, but would he have been all that if he'd been less effective during the late 80s?

I'm amazed Mr Galaxy even posts here, so resentful is he of every single thread and view point expressed here.

A trawl through his list of snarling posts is enough to make your eyes bleed.

Fair point about demographic but would you rely on them to fill out a decently sized venue
I wasn't serious.

He's a character though, and that might be enough to remind people of what he achieved when he's on the box again.

Not too long ago it was Frankie Gavin this, and Frankie Gavin that ... until he screwed the pooch, and Degale picked up the pieces and did himself proud. He has a right to be a little cocky.

There isn't a condescending strut to his cockiness though, it's more humourous than anything else and given the chance I think he'll do well with the public.
