I am sad to report that he has passed away. I just heard about it today, it happened last night. I knew him before he started boxing.

Supposedly from a heart attack, in his sleep.

May he rest in peace.

We fought on the same card at Chicagos Park West a couple times in 1989.

Terrible, and strange.

Was it related to his shape? He was heavy even when fighting, can't imagine the shape he got into post-athletic career.

We're still not exactly sure. I went to the service tonight, he looked the same as he did last time I saw him. He definitely did get heavier over the years, but I wouldn't say he was extremely overweight.

However, he did have back surgery earlier in the week. I'm wondering if it was a blood clot dislodging that caused it. The family isn't saying much.
