Hunter - Callaghan Whisper

Post by TheGoods »

Heard from a good source that should Marc Callaghan do the business this weekend he will box Michael Hunter for the British title on June 10. If confirmed it should be a belter. Hunter drew with Callaghan in Crawley a few years back (very iffy decision in my view - Hunter stormed from the ring in disgust) and the man from the North East openly admits he doesn't like Marc at all. Callaghan no fool either and wrote letters to the Boxing News following Hunter's WBF title success against Frankie De Milo in 2002 claiming HE was robbed in their fight. Has 'grudge match' written all over it.

Saw Michael get in the ring after the Cook-Bennett fight. How does that guy make super-bantam? He towered over Bennett. Thrilled that a good old pro like Callaghan could be getting a shot.

In the past Bennie he used to really struggle. His "lifestyle" didn't help but since he beat De Milo so convincingly he has really begun to believe in himself and now trains like a demon (as opposed to drinking like one). His confidence is growing and he is coming into his peak for me. Pickering is the fight he really wants but Callaghan should be a fair old scrap given the "history" between the two.

Hunter is great, if you ask me. The best prospect to go on and actually do something genuine, in my view.
