Brian Magee is undefeated in his professional career
Britain's top two super-middleweights Brian Magee and Robin Reid are to clash in the King's Hall in Belfast on Saturday 16 June.
Magee, the unbeaten IBO super middleweight champion, admitted the bout would be his toughest so far.

Plans to hold the contest in Belfast's 10,000-seater Odyssey Arena had to be scrapped as it was already booked.

"This fight has been talked about for a long time and it will be my biggest test," said 28-year-old Magee.

Magee retained his IBO title for the seventh time last month after a tough duel with Nigerian Jerry Elliott, stretching his unbeaten professional record to 22 fights.

Now he is relishing the prospect of another big night in the King's Hall.

"It is always good to fight at home, it is an advantage. Hopefully the fans will get behind me again," said Magee who has his sights set on a getting a crack at the WBA title.

"Everybody thinks of Robin Reid as a world class fighter and that is what he is."

Unless Robin Reid has gone old over night I think he will beat Magee.

Magee is a talented fighter but just seems to have 'something' missing IMO.

Fair play to Magee though, taking on Reid is a big gamble, and who knows, perhaps he will rise to the occasion. Though not a fan of Reid's or Magees for that matter, my highly developed sense of justice ensures I will be rooting for Reidy, he got the shitty end of the stick against Ottke, and showed he is still world class, he's good enough to get back at least near the top I think, as he's one of the most experienced men in the division now.

A gamble is a bit of an understatement. Magee hasn't fought anyone near to Reid in terms of ability yet. My feeling is that Reid's just going to have too much in every department. Be interesting to see what happens when Reid lands a decent shot.
I'll commend him for taking the fight but i can't see how he'll win.

Last time out Magee failed to show me any reasons why he can Reid, in fact the reverse, he showed plenty of reasons why he cannot beat Reid. Whacking away shop worn fighters like Cherifi and roll overs like Gonzalez (unknown toughguy my arse) will not put him in good stead for a world class test no matter whether Reid is getting on and has not had a good fight for years

Magee can throw some big shots so it could be very interesting early on although I think Reid will be a little bit too good for him and will surely want to make amends for the Ottke fiasco.

Good to see Eamonn is stepping up in class, the last fight he had was a poor performance even if the other guy had an extremely awkward style.

Reid has turned into a slow plodder. Think Magee has it in him to outbox him. Think Reid still wins and neither of them has a future mixing it on the world scene.

I will wait to see both guys in the ring before I count my chickens, I haven't forgotton Brian Barbose, neither has Tony Dodson.

I generally agree with the views of Lenny Albert should the fight take place - although I think Reid has always been a plodder - The ONLY time I have been impressed with Robin was against Wharton, he looked the business then.

I wasn't impressed with his effort against Calzaghe, and I scored it for Reid. Joe alledgely suffered food poisioning and had no sparring at all going into the bout due to other injuries. He was there for the taking there, Rob won - but with that prep it shouldn't have been close.

Joe has learned from his mistakes of fighting when clearly not 100%.
