Tony Booth retires after win

Booth beat Howard Daly on Saturday, and announced his retirement straight after the fight, after 165 pro bouts.

Without guys like Booth, boxing wouldn't tick. Great to see him sign off with a win, and best of luck to him in the future.

Nothing Mate, Dont care what anyone thinks, Tony Booth Should have been British Champion at least. Trouble was He lost it in the Gym, He was never there DD . Talent wise He had it all, but not a lot of talent picking winners in the 3/30 at Kempton. Ive only met Him a few times but what a Nobble Great Kid

Yes he has the talent as does Peter Buckley, but when there's a market for losers then they dont need to bother, like Buckley says he has a nice house, nice car and no worries...

He also had good wins against, Negus, Hamer and Bruce Scott and a draw against Ralf Rochianni in Germany was also a good result.
Furthermore he performed commendably in his British title shot

I can't see him staying retired. The documentary that was on Setanta?? about him showed that he struggled to make a living outside of boxing. He was arguing the fact why should he work down the docks for less money now than he got in the 80's.

I don't think he'll be making a comeback somehow. He couldn't have had a more perfect finale other than knocking me out, a win on a home show in front of his family. Good look for the future Tony.

Bout time Tony retired to be fair, love him to bits of course he me brother and fair play wasn't that good at training etc.... but he not one of these who has ever picked and chose his fights. I Have known him to ring me dad after a fight and say Heck 18 stone big bloke he was.......! He must of been mad.
Iv'e seen him box lucky for me the few I saw were wins ... ennerdale when he knoecked out Raffety and City hall a win... it's scarey stuff watching yer own blood get punched though.... Agree He could of gone far, but he knows that........ think as his book say's he went as far as he Really wanted too end of day!

Good luck to Tony, to be honest my impression of him not as a person, but his boxing went down a bit following the documentary on Setanta. Not as a bloke though, seems to be a great family man which really is what life is about.

He wasn't the most diligent of trainers and it appeared he was fighting cause he found it easier than a "proper job". As his sister said, he went as far as he wanted to go.... and I do admire his honesty in the documentary, just it would have been nice to have seen how far he could have gone say if he put in a solid 6 months training in.
