Bad marketing or a good little earner?

Post by ALI »

You decide!

http://78.110.162.82/forum/index.php?topic=7187.

I cant quite get my head around it really. Why on earth would Hatton endorse (what is in my eye's) a cheap little money earning scam. I'm quite dissapointed to see brand Hatton lowered to this level.

There is a few mentions/jokes? on that thread that Hatton will be releasing a little tune around christmas time, but that is a joke, right? For fcuk's sake tell me its a joke

Has there been a new marketing team employed by team Hatton recently......... i'm starting to think so. It could tie into the reason why some negative Hatton threads have dissapeared of this forum over the last few weeks??????

Ha Ha........ they have blocked the link, now i cannot see it either. What a great marketing team these plonkers really are!

Power Hatton to victory by accompanying him into the ring! (or something similar goes the marketing drivel for this!)

Basically, on Hatton’s forum, which is very similar to this forum, someone from his marketing team posted a new thread giving the forums users the 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to accompany Hatton into the ring for his fight with Paulie Mallignagi. Sounds great don’t it? All you have to do is email them your name and in miniscule writing they will print it onto Hatton's robe alongside 1000 other names in miniscule writing. But wait for it, that’s not the best part, one of these lucky people will a actually win this garment afterl having their name drawn out of a boxing glove. And guess what, you get all this for as little as 150 GBP :DD What a bargain eh!

It was the cheesy marketing that stunk the most. The majority of his forums users are now tearing this scam apart...... seems to be backfiring big time!

Its hard to imagine Hatton endorsing this one....... why stoop this low for just a few extra grand? Its bemusing me! I'll be laughing my tits off seeing him wearing this 'rip off robe' into the ring..... if he's got any sense he'll pull the plug on this asap! And then immediately sack the donkey who dreamt this one up!

It looks the the worms have finally turned. That forum is usually full of the types who swear Ricky can do no wrong but the thread was full of people agreeing that it was a pisstake and then it was blocked because one of the mods thought there was too much negativity and they didn't want people who clicked on the thread to be influenced by it.

It does seem though that they keep being approached by 3rd parties who come up with these schemes for a cut. Ricky really should stasrt vetoeing most of them though.

If it was for charity, it would be a good idea (I think Wlad Klitschko did something similar for the Ibragimov fight), but as it is, it's just a very cynical way to make 150 grand for himself. What a steaming heap of shit.

Surely even Khaosai Galaxy can't defend this!

Fact is if Hatton wasnt involved it wouldnt be happening so we know Hatton approves the scam. If it was for charity and nobody else got a penney I would be happy with it. F*ck Hatton "man of the people" who is still the same old Ricky, bollox. That documentary that fell over itself driving home the message, money and fame havent changed Ricky was full of shit. Hatton and his old man have enough money to buy all the houses on the council estate where they came from but still they want more. Waylon (an ex Ricky Hatton fan)

It doesn't stop there.
The American side of Ricky's team are at it.
I've followed Ricky everywhere from the start, hardly missed a fight.
Somewhere along the line, the Yanks have got my contact details.
I got an E Mail three weeks ago asking me to send $150 and they'd put a good luck message in the programme from me, and then send me a free programme.
As a bit of a piss take I wrote back and said if I made the message from me and my son and only wanted one programme could I get a discount - and got told to f**k off, not literally but you get my drift.
I am very lucky in that I can follow my hobby when I want, where I want.
That said, I'm having to cut back because these trips ain't cheap.
For the thousands who go out there who have to save up and lose pay at work, seeing this sort of antic from the kid they worship must be hard to swallow.
How much do you need in the bank to lIve in Hyde, have a few beers with the mates and play darts ?
I love the kid to bits - but even I have to concede these antics are a step too far.

Best post I think I've read on the subject. Wholeheartedly agree. I'll only go and see Him fight again if the Pacman bout does happen so I can see Manny fight.

This was never intended as a charity gig. If you read the initial advertisement, then read your way through the thread, its obvious this was nothing more than a money making scam. The organisers were asked to clarify if the proceeds were intended for charity or not yet responded with the same old jargon on the initial advert, with no mention of charity.

Wether its really going to be for charity now or not (i'd clarify with these fcukers exactly what % is intended for charity now), i'll be laughing my tits of watching Hatton strutt his stuff during the ring walk wearing his 'rip of robe'!.

Terrible marketing of the Hatton brand :shame: Could you imagine Money Mayweather endorsing this cheapo scam?

It's hardly surprising that Hatton is prepared to bleed the pockets dry of his loyal fans after shafting them over the Mayweather tickets is it?
