By Andrew Wake: Undefeated British welterweight champion Kell Brook wants to set the record straight about claims made by Paisley’s Kevin McIntyre that he is arrogant.

After yet another delay, the pair are now scheduled to meet for the Lonsdale belt at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow on November 14 and 22-year-old Brook feels that McIntyre is trying to get under his skin by making untrue comments.

"He [McIntyre] says I’m mouthy and cocky, but I haven’t come across like that at all," Said Brook. "I’ve heard that he says I’m not fit enough to tie the laces on his gloves.

"I’ve heard that he’s said that he’ll beat me easily, that I’m not to his level and that he’s gonna take me into the latter rounds and drown me.

"I don’t know whether he wants to get the public against me, but I’ve never said anything bad about him. I respect him as a fighter and as a person. It’s just business. I don’t want to be Mr. Bad in this."

Despite clearly having the utmost respect for the Scottish southpaw and not wanting to appear ‘mouthy and cocky’, Brook feels that he has the edge in the skills department and that victory is a sure thing.

"I have to think like a winner or I wouldn’t get into the ring," He said. "I just know that I’ve got a job to do in the ring and I don’t want to start slagging anyone off but I know I’m going win the fight.

"I think in his fights with Kevin Anderson and Tony Docherty he’s improved but I don’t think those performances show that he can have the edge on me.

"When he feels my right hand, he won’t like it at all. I’m fast, I’m young, I’m fresh, I can dig and I’m hungry for this victory. There’s no way he is taking that belt off me.

"It means the world to me having that belt and it’ll feel even better to beat him in his own backyard, in Scotland. I believe it will be a great a night for me.

"He probably thinks that he’s better off because the fight’s in his backyard and he’ll have his fans there, but when it comes to it there’s only me and him in that ring so when I beat him, he can’t have any excuses."

What adds further intrigue to the bout is the fact that McIntyre was himself the British welterweight champion but was stripped of his crown for pulling out of a fight with Brook in June due to a back injury.

Brook subsequently crushed Welshman Barrie Jones for the vacant belt in seven one-sided rounds at York Hall, London but due to the manner in which McIntyre was dethroned, he has not been accepted as the legitimate holder of the Lonsdale belt by many.

Strangely the young Sheffield-native agrees with the critics. He said: "Really and truthfully he is the champion. I’ve got the belt but I’ve not beaten the champion. I believe when I beat him people will accept me. I won’t feel like I’m fully the champion until November 14th when I get my hands on him"

i think most of mcintyres points were directed at his recent interveiw with the boxing news where brook had said he would knock him out in a couple of rounds! he also said mick jennings was on the way down and that everyone is scared of him because he was making championship fighters cry in sparring,he didnt mention any names but i can only asume he didnt want to imbaras his mates ryan & junior!

I can confirm Gaz that Warren is still having Midland fight fans pant's down by charging £40 a ticket for a show in a sports hall with no discernable headline fight (they moved that fight without explanation) and 8 TBA opponents - as 26 pointed out there are even rumours that Macklin has now pulled out injured.

Its been along time since Warren and SN were last in Birmingham - on the evidence since their 'return' was announced they can eff off out of the city for another 15 years for all I care.
