Earl VS Castle spoiler
Earl VS Castle spoiler
A disgrace that Earl was allowed back in ring after khan, could have been hurt bad disgrace.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Totally agree. I watched Earl against Katsidis and although Earl gave as good as he got he was taking a few flush punches. I watched him against Kahn and he was again taking hurtful flush punches and thougt he should of retired after that fight. Tonight against Castle he was taking yet again hard flush punches. Surely that will be the end now for his own good.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Very true, his chin is totally shattered, he has to hang them up for sure. Katsidis finished him and he's been fed from that off his name, shame.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Why? Did he fail a medical?bigped wrote:A disgrace that Earl was allowed back in ring after khan, could have been hurt bad disgrace.
He is a grown man and if he wants to continue then it should be up to him.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Sometimes you have to say "look dont let your heart rule your head". I hope Earl now retires before he gets seriously hurt.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
True hes grown man, but Earl getting damaged is not good for himself and not good for the sport. I expect we'll not see Earl back in the ring, but if we do, then the grown man clearly needs protected from himself.Horse wrote:Why? I think he should retire, but I don't think he should be forced to quit unless he fails his medicals. The Hawk wrote:True hes grown man, but Earl getting damaged is not good for himself and not good for the sport. Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Well I haven't liked his speech for a while, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt in the Khan fight... facing a decent puncher, who caught him cold. Now though to lose to Castle in a a similar manner - he must retire.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
if he continues. There should be some kind of outside intervention like what happened to holyfield to protect him
time to say goodbye
It's sad to say but Graham Earl has reached the end of the line beaten last night by Henry castle there really is no where for him to go but down he was a tough little competitor on his day but his day was far too short, He never recovered from the defeat by Katsidis & now with three inside defeats
probablly his best nights were his two wins over Bobby vanzie & his points win against Romanov, time to find a life outside the ropes.
I wish him all the luck in whatever career he follows but don't want to see him get badlly hurt by going on against guys that could not lace his boots back in the day

Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
I hope he continues in his training/managing. Hope he has some involvement - but his resistance is gone now. I'll never forget his fight with Kevin Bennett (he essentially retired Bennett) - what a war that was, and what a gutsy effort he put in. He was out on his feet for a few rounds but made Bennett punch himself out, and in the end stopped Bennett in the 9th. It was our own Gatti vs Reulas.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
What happend to Ian Wilson who beat Castle last year?
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Congrats to Henry. Pride of Southampton. Murray v Castle would make my Xmas!
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Had a beer with family last night in the bar at YH, and the over-riding feeling is that his management / promoters have fed him to the lions lately.
It's rumoured that he took the Khan fight for absolutely peanuts and no-one wanted the fight bar Graham.
It's all too late now, but after Katsidis they felt he might have been given a few soft touches maybe in Ireland or somewhere out of the heat of battle in Bethnal Green where he has such an avid following.

Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
The thing is, and I mean no offence to Henry Castle who seemed a thoroughly nice bloke when interviewed after the fight, even a mostly shot Earl would have beaten him.
I put Ceefax on this morning, checking the sports news as I do every day - and one of the headlines was "British boxer in critical condition". My immediate thought was that Graham was in trouble... the fact is, he can pass as many medicals as you like, he is just fighting to shorten his life now. I thought at the time that he could have been given longer against Katsidis, when he was in the fight of his life, witht he Aussie perhaps starting to look tired, but he should never have been allowed to fight again afterward regardless of the eventual result.

I'm sure it was a back injury that has kept Wilson out of the ring, he couldn't train properly.stujones wrote:What happend to Ian Wilson who beat Castle last year?

I'm sure the board will look at Earl very carefully before allowing him in the ring again, if they allow it at all.

From Earl
“Tonight was about me to see if I still had it in myself; it wasn’t the same Graham Earl entering the ring tonight,” said Earl. “The real Graham would have been blinkered and focused, tonight my mind was elsewhere and I paid the price. Since my fight with Katsidis for the WBO title, The Board have been ready to pounce on me any time I was on the receiving end. Tonight, on reflection was the right decision and tonight Graham Earl has officially retired from the ring. I always said I would retire at 30, but with a bit more money in the Bank; but onwards and upwards I am now a trainer, manager and agent and have some emerging talent coming through, I’ve just opened a gym in Luton which will nurture the Pro’s and the great amateur talent coming out of Luton, said the likable Celt from Luton.

Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
I really thought Earl had been caught cold against Khan. He is a slow starter after all. Now having seen him beaten in a similar fashion by Henry Castle I believe his days as a fighter are over. Castle is good and he does have a decent KO record but the Earl prior to Katsidis would have won without a doubt. Earl has been a great fighter but its time to pass his knowledge onto youngsters not to be beaten up by them.

Amir Khan just ended his career for him. This fight should not have happened
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Is there any footage of this fight ? Thanks.
Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Pretty disgusted by this 'fight' really... Earl had a dazed look about him before even a punch was thrown, the fact is he was pretty much shot even going into the Katsidis match... too many hard fights where he has been dazed and out on his feet. People keep talking about medicals, but they only show up damage when it is so bad that its physically visible... I think fighters should be judged on their form and history rather than just if they have passed their latest medical.

Re: Earl VS Castle spoiler
Earl seemed spaced out in the Amir Khan previews -- i knew i'd done a wrong 'un laying a tenner on him then & there, even before the first bell.
Unfortunately he's totally shot, that one-sided beating from Katsidis knocked whatever stuffing was left out of him.
Hope he has a future in training fighters.
