SETANTA ARE SH*T!!

Post by Deserter »

So, just got up to watch Hopkins Vs Pavlik, which I recorded on Sky Plus... only to find out that my recording finished in the 12th round of the Dib vs Luevano fight... to say I'm not impressed is a massive understatement, especially as this isn't the first time it's happened. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I've never had any problems with Setanta. Whether that's due to me getting it via SKY, I don't know.

I was fornicating pissed off when there was a power cut at half four in the morning though, I tell you. Missed the first 3 rounds of Pavlik-Hopkins.

I feel your pain as I did the same thing. Repeat at 12pm today, but puzzled why they do this. Frustrating to say the very least

Do you get it off a freeview box (you still have to pay)? If so, they are only live til 3am

I did exactly same thing.

They split up the boxing coverage into different segments. So, like me, I think you scrolled through and just recorded the first bit.

Could be Setanta. But Sky and Setanta are not exactly mates so could be Sky plus' fault

Its nothing to do with Setanta, the sky+ plus planner had the broadcast split into 3 separate programs, personally I always set my sky+ box up via manual recording for the US broadcasts.

Cheers for clearing it up guys. I've got sky and did just record the first segment, not realising there was more than one. Doh!

Always record the next show big boy. You never know when it'll over-run.

To be fair, it's Sky that did it, not Setanta.

Another tip not yet mentioned to avoid this problem is to 'series link' the boxing (and UFC, if you are that way inclined). This means that the planner usually picks up the fights without the need for manually selecting them, plus it also negates this splitting of the show that sometimes happens. Works for me anyway!

Unless its Calzaghe I always watch the midday re run. The only problem is you miss the other bouts.

Yeah mine did the same. I've just worked out how to work the manual time settings so will using that from now on.

I cannot record Setanta Sports 2 at all..... I don't have Sky+, but a stand alone HDD recorder. It says after about 10 mins recording "Due to broadcasting rights you are unable to record this programme" on my HDD machine.

Contacted Setanta, they cannot understand it.

Is it a Philips?

Some recorders are blocked by an encrypted signal Stu, to prevent recording of some channels content.

Check out some AV forums and they might have a fix for it.

Its a panasonic..... I've asked setanta if there is some broadcasting issues they know about recording the programmes and they initially said no... but when I asked then about compensation and stuff (cause my machine is working) they changed to a could be.... but Poker/Athletics - anything on SS2 I can't tape.

Will try the AV forums... thanks.

Not a major issue but was wondering why they cut round 4 out of the 12pm re-run??!

I recorded the whole thing on the DVD HDD thingy with half and hour on the end allowing for over-running :TU:

Warning, for people sky+'ing the Calzaghe fight it is split into 2 on the sky planner.

Having been burned in the past I always set the Sky+ to record the midday re-run as well just in case something goes wrong with the live broadcast.

Why do they do that? I can't think of any possible explanation.

For hopkins pavlik the undercard was free then it was scambled just before first bell. Presumably to get subscribers.
