whats billy dib do now?

Post by adamheight »

the fight was a lot wider than the judges had it. one judge had it by only a 2 point margin whcih was quite ludicrous.

this is dibs second loss in a row (everyone who saw the marali fight knows he lost).

he must realise that he has to change his style to be successful at that level, i dont think he can be that stupid?? what may have worked against inferior opposition wont work against the guys he is facing now. good example was the main bout today, pavlik got schooled. i hope the kid goes ok but he needs some work and I thought with johnny lewis in his corner that he wouldnt stand for any of the showboating that goes on!!!

Changing his style is imperative if he wants to give himself any chance at world level....

But to be honest, i dont even know if its possible for dib to change. And even if he did i dont know if he could mix it up on the world stage anyway

I had Dib winning 3 rounds with another close, He lost by at least 5-6 rounds on my scoring. He wasted to much energy showboating instead of fighting. The commentory was absolutly disgraceful. The guys have no idea they gave Dib no rounds at all.

yeah i think i gave dib 3-4 rounds
the commentators were definitely shocking,it was like they decided after the first minute that dib wasnt gonna win a round, and only talked about the punches luevano landed

He's 23, he should come back to Australia, he still needs to learn abit more, and with a bunch of talent here he should issue a few challenges.

He can fight, Kickett, the elomars, the Browns, maybe even a fight with Jackson Asiku he needs a fight.

He should pissoff that lunging uppercut that never finds the mark, and work on his power, oh and here' a tip Billy hold your hands up, people cant punch you flush with your hands up .

I agree about the commentators, totally biased towards luevano....embarassingly un-neutral.

That whole lunging-in weird angled uppercut that he copied from hamed NEVER finds a home....he should ditch that.
I read an interesting article about dib and his relationship with hamed.apparenly naz flies him over to sheffield twice a year and they speak on the phone 3 times a WEEK!...dib also lived with tyson for 6 weeks!

He does waste too much energy showboating, dont the commentaters think he punchs like a girl, i think the reference was "Dibs shoe shine punchs wont hurt Stevie".

Pretty ordinary fight overall, Dib v Anyone makes for an ugly fight.

his style does need an overhaul, the showboating must go, but he still has to be careful who he fights if he is still interested in the world stage. Is Johnny Lewis the right trainer for him? Billy has talent, but he needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Murali exposed him and by all accounts he was despatched with ease in this fight. It's either become disciplined enough to redirect the obvious talent or find a new main source of income and collect his 'play' money from the fight game.

you guys are way too harsh
dib definitely lost but he did well in patches and was probably a slicker boxer
dib will be ten times better for the loss he now knows his weaknesses and can hopefully work on them
if you keep beating people but are doing something wrong or have a weak point it is never found out
pavlik is a perfect example is he finished
dib at 23 is still a baby and to already be fighting in america on such a big card is a feat on its own
commentary in aus is just as bad or even worse at times i remember mundine vs kessler and they kept saying how good mundine was and he lost 120-108 on one card it is a non event and shouldnt even be considered it is sometimes better to watch in silence so you cant be influenced diaz vs katsidis is a prime example
i sometimes think they forget each round is scored seperate

Do u at least agree that marali was robbed though?

Dib has a lot in common with katsidis, likeable fighter with charisma and talent, but just comes up short when mixing it with the big boys...

Had this fight happened 10yrs ago when hamed was wbo featherweight champ instead of luevano, billy the kid would have been taken out in 2 rounds.

unfortunately adam, charisma and talent do not win fights. they can put bums on seats for so long(mundine) but then the results have to take over. i also think that dib and katsidis are worlds apart when it comes to ring craft mate.

A young man can make a good living out of boxing without becoming a World Champion. Dib is a capable boxer who can still beat the majority of featherweights and super featherweights. he will find his level.

thats what i find weird about your reply to my post....in my post i actually stated that hes likable and charismatic, BUT he comes up short when mixing it with the big boys (ie, he ain't gonna make to much noise on the world stage)
