Koczak vs. Kiilu 2004.05.08

Post by vortex »

Dear Boxrec!

Here are some informations about the following
featherweight bout: (I saw it on Hungarian
RTL Klub television)

S. Koczak vs. D. Kiilu
(2004.05.08, Wienna)

It was declared to a draw in the fifth. I'm
Hungarian like Koczak but the truth is the
truth. It is the worst decision I've ever seen.
The better fighter Kiilu was robbed.

Round 1: 10-9 Kiilu
Round 2: 10-9 Kiilu
Round 3: Koczak down. 10-8 for Kiilu
Round 4: Another close round, give it to Koczak

So, the scoring after 4:
Kiilu 39-36 Koczak
(How could be 47 for Koczak if he was down???
And so how could be 47 after 4 rds???)

In the fifth, Koczak headbutted Kiilu, who was
unable to continue. Kiilu's nose was bleeding
continuously. The fight went to the scorecards.
And what happens: without any indications during
the fight, 3 points was deducted from Kiilu, after
the 5th, so the result: draw. Oh man, I couldn't
belive it. Please at least make a note to the record
of these guys.

He either won or drew one of the first two rounds. Some commissions, such as Germany, require that incomplete rounds be scored if a fight goes to a technical descision.

Translating the scoring to rounds two of the Judges had it 2-3 one had it 2-2-1 apparently they were less impressed by Kiilu's perfomance in the first couple of rounds than you were, if Koczák won one of the first two rounds and the fifth then, due to the knockdown, 46-46 is correct, if he drew one of the fist two and won the fifth then he loses 48-47

Thanks for your reply!

That is an answer of the scoring but not in this case.

The TV commentator continuously reported the current
standing of the scoring (it is another thing I don't understand.)
According to this reports, after the fourth round Kiilu was leading
on all the scorecards. After the fight was finished, a long
discussion has begun at ringside and in the ring. Minutes later the
ringspeaker announced: Kiilu was deducted 3 (!) points
for headbutting. There was no any indications of the
deductions, and there was no any warnings during the fight.
And of course the fight ended with Koczák headbutting Kiilu.

Is there any answer for this? Are there any rules which allow
a 3 point deduction after a fight finished?

Thank you.
