When Roy Jones Jr. defends his WBC light heavyweight title against Antonio Tarver on Saturday, his WBA light heavyweight crown will also be at risk. If you don't remember Jones regaining the WBA title, you're not alone. In a scenario with eerie similarities to the WBC-Rocchigianni snafu, Jones quietly reappeared in the WBA ratings released March 9 as light heavyweight "super champion" after the Venezuela-based sanctioning organization retroactively elevated Jones' November 11 win over Tarver to championship status. Jones had previously vacated the organization's 175lb title after he defeated John Ruiz for the WBA heavyweight belt in March 2003 (a title he eventually reliquished without defending). Mehdi Sahnoune and Sylvio Branco kept the WBA's "regular" world championship in play before Jones was reinserted as super champion.

They're all as bad.

The WBO were disgusting in the way that they snatched the super-bantamweight belt off Morales and handed it back to Barrera because they disagreed with the judges. Would they have done the same for Morales had he been robbed? Like f*ck.

Or how about the WBU "catchweight" title, what a pathetic nonsense.

The WBC, well they got found out over the Rocco affair and fingers crossed their days are numbered.

It's pure greed - the WBA stand to make more money by having the upcoming Jones/Tarver rematch also be for their Supercalafragilisticexpialadocious Übertitle, RJJ & Tarver's match sounds more title-weighty, and since Tarver is the challenger, I believe RJJ pays the sanctioning fee (or at least the bulk of it), which Tarver likes, because he's just filed for bankruptcy in attempt to weasel his way out of around a million dollars in foolishly-incurred debt. Meanwhile, RJJ gets his WBA strap back without actually having to fight one of those pesky Europeans for it, and the new holder of the WBA regular-strength light-heavy title gets to keep it without having to risk getting humiliated by Jones, and continue to proclaim himself "world champion" for promotional purposes. Everybody's happy.

I like the way you put Jones wont have to fight one of those pesky Europeans! But its only to true I dont know why he enever for Dm or Jirov it really amazes me that people say he was scared I odnt think he was scared but I am hell puzzled that he didn't fight them he would have killed both but he enevr got in the ring with them. Instead loads of crap like Kelly and others get their undeserving shot!
