Not really, no head movement and came in in straight lines all night long.

Well Hopkins proved me totally wrong for a start. He made Pavlik look one dimensional and clueless, although I'm not so sure Pavlik is suited to the higher weight as he seemed to be sporting a belly in there.

Pavlik merely offered a token jab and was unable to cut the ring down for fear of being punished. Hopkins' false humility after the fight was in stark contrast to the usual rantings we hear when he loses, and I don't feel there was any need for him to be trying to instigate a ring ruckus after the final bell.

All in all I don't particularly feel this exonerates Calzaghe for taking the easy option and fighting Jones Jnr, although it does place him in a more favourable light. I don't think anybody saw a domination like this coming, even though it was conceivable that Hopkins would win the bout beforehand.

I hold my hands up, I had Pavlik to win this. Well done B-Hop, great performance.

I also thought Pavlik would win this fight.

Hopkins obviously proved otherwise.

Yep got to hand it to Hopkins, that was a masterclass. I thought Pavlik would out work the old man, though obviously he'd have to be able to have actually hit him to do that.
If he retired now, he could say his defining and best perfomance was his very last fight. He spoils things a bit though, with his fake crying to the ref over various imagined fouls. Can't think of too many other top line fighters who resort to that.

Pavlik wont be damaged by this loss I think, he'll likely come back a better fighter. Unlike Lacy.

So maybe Joe was right, saying Pavlik was overrated and one dimensional. Bet he wished he'd taken the fight now though, which he should have.

And even a slighty unmotivated Calzaghe had enough to hold off Hopkins the great, which I think shows just how good he is...or hard to beat at least.
Can't blame him for giving Hop 2 a miss either - it was a horrible fight, and no one outside the hard core really wants to see a non event like that again.

Hopkins is a LIGHT HEAVY and always was.

Discipline kept him at 160lbs all those years - he is indeed a Legend.

He played the weight game and won....as I predicted he would.
