Hatton v Malignaggi, who wins and why??

Post by thepocketrocket »

So we are nearing the fight date, what are peoples thoughts? Will Ricky have anything left or is he due to get outboxed by the New York slickster??

I personlly think Ricky outworks Paulie, Paulie however may outbox him at points and make him look sluggish, so I expect a big tirade from certain quaters post fight!

i honestly think were going to see a great performance from Ricky
Bust Paulie up till he gets pulled out in his corner round about 10

If not hell end up with a face worse than like his cotto fight.

I predict that Hatton pushes around, bullies, and generally outworks Malignaggi (who isn't nearly as slick, nor as quick as his reputation suggests), lands some solid hooks, and gets the verdict. I also predict that people who claimed Calzaghe didn't deserve the decision over Hopkins will come out and claim that Malignaggi beat Hatton because he land a a few flurries.

Just a guess, mind.

Hatton by late stoppage or wide UD.

Malignaggi isn't slick, he's one paced and average, he's only labelled as slick because he doesn't possess a knock out punch.

Hatton is shot. Malignaggi will make him look stupid and bust him up, maybe even stop him late. Malignaggi showed he was capable of rising to the big occasion against Cotto, so I'm judging him on that rather than his disappointing recent performances against N'dou and Ngoudo.

I know he fought a pale, dead at the weight fighter who was called Cotto but please if it had been a fully fit and healthy version of Cotto then Paulie wouldn't have lasted 3 rounds.

If Hatton doesn't win a comfortable decision at the very least then he needs to take a long hard look at himself.

Because Paulie struggled(some say he lost to) with 2 journeymen who Hatton would have beaten easily.

He only gave Cotto a decent fight because Cotto was facked at light welter, he used loads of energy trying to make the weight.

People actually forget he wobbled Cotto in that fight, inconsequential of whether he was weight drained, only Torres and Corley managed to equal that feat.

Paulie with healed/strong hands is very under-rated.

And Ngoudjo and N'Dou ain't journeymen.

To be fair Ngoudjo is a dangerous fighter who I thought was unlucky not to get the victory over Castillo but N'dou is a long way from the toughnut he was 4/5 years ago.

malignaggi on points.....

hatton is nearly 3 years past his peak, in that time he has looked world class against urango for 3 or 4 rounds thats all...

malignaggi is younger and hungrier, he boxes well, moves well and his tap tap tap punching could well make hatton look pedestrian.

if ricky wins, ill take my hat off to him, but hatton is still coasting on the back of a shop worn castillo body shot, when did ricky last pin his opponent to the ropes (like he did v rowlands and pep etc) and alternate with crushing left and rights downstairs.

hatton is finished.

castillo pulled away down the stretch in that fight.

malignaggi was poor in his last 2 fights.

i thought he drew with herman and beat n'dou.

he's got no chance with hatton anyway. :>

Hatton is shopworn, but should have enough to see off this fella. I think it's going to be a really good fight.

They are both equally rubbish so I predict a messy fight that ends in a draw.
