Tyson's opponents were no worse than Khan's, and he tore through most of them with ease within a year, he fought a schedule Khan could only dream of.

There are lots of blown up Super Featherweights on Khan's record, go and look at the weights of the men he fought prior to fighting Khan, clearly he fought a lot of sub-lightweight guys.

Precisely. Tyson had one hell of a chin on him, he was only ever stopped by a barrage of punches, and was in with big hitters during his career. Razor Ruddock nailed him with bombs and couldn't budge Tyson.

Had Tyson had Khan's chin, he would never have made it to a world title.

But Khan was getting decked and wobbled by all level of fighters, there's a massive difference - Prescott's record is probably padded as hell, but you can't combine such a poor defence with a glass jaw. What point are you trying to make? That Khan could become undefeated world champ like Tyson? That's obviously not possible.

Easy runs are fine if they teach you something. Amir's opposition has been made up of too many fighters who have only taught him bad habits. He needed more fights where he had to fight like he did against St Clair, fights where he had some respect for the opposition. We have some great little domestic fighters at lightweight in this country and working his way through them would have made Khan a much more rounded fighter...

Or it could have been a Gary Reid type that knocked him out first.

I got banned from there when I posted something like. "Only a mug didn't see a KO like that coming. A terrible chin combined with a terrible defense". I mentioned the warning calls Khan had etc. I got a PM from an admin saying "You are not aloud to post anything negative about Amir Khan". What I posted was facts. Nothing negative.

Too young to be a lost cause, all of the shots that put him over were meaty, in Prescott's case they were the sort of shots that would have chinned anyone if they had landed.

When a young upstart gets his clock cleaned, in the first round, by an explosive, uheralded KO artist, you dont immediately brand him fu*ked for life. That's just way too harsh. There have been plenty of great fighters who got sparked early in their careers, some of my favourites to boot.

Yes, he was put over by smaller fighters, but they weren't cuffing shots, Limond caught him flush on the back of the head / temple, had him all over the place and eventually put him over with a barrage of shots. Gomez, headhunting, caught him with another temple shot, more of a flash knockdown though. Prescott did the business, no argument.

I can take the following away from that:

1. Good recuperative abilities, even vs Prescott. Completely destroyed Limond in the round following the knockdown and did the business on Gomez despite a valiant effort.
2. His defence and reactions when hurt are terrible.
3. He's far too eager to live up to the hype, going for the KO is what got him KO'd.
4. He's young, skilled offensively and hits very hard, if he finds the right trainer, he could do as much to protect himself from future risk as possible.
5. He will be stopped again.
6. If he's stopped again within the next 3 fights it probably is curtains despite all of the positives.

It's all up to him now and I really hope he proves a lot of people wrong, its not as though he's a pain in the arse to watch like Audley was.

I'm not totally down on Khan and I think he can still have a good career if he tightens up and goes back to basics using his speed and reach with a tight defense, but lets not kid ourselves, his chin is shit. I also don't get saying he was hit in the temple as a way of defending a fighters chin. He got hit and went down heavily against a very light puncher in Limond. Yes I agree about his recuperative powers but being hit on the temple is no freak incident. You make it sound like if Limond was to hit David Diaz on the temple he would have been down as well?

There is no proof of Prescott doing this at the top level, in fact if he were to get there, I'm not convinced he'd come anywhere close to looking as sensational as he did vs Khan. But let's just say a top level guy completely underestimated him (let's say pre Khan) and fought wrecklessly, without giving his now obvious strengths the respect they deserved, and got caught with the same combo that levelled Khan, I'd bet a lot of money they wouldn't be upright. That first knockdown came on the end of two of the most vicious looking punches I've seen in a long time.

You don't understand why I'd defend a fighter's chin if he was put over from a temple shot? Well, because those punches can f*ck up your equilibrium and aren't the same as being hit in the face/chin. Guys like Cotto and Haye have both been put on queer street by temple shots and it didn't stop them from reaching the top, others too. I know weight draining may play a part and who's to say the same may not apply to Khan as well, he's a pretty huge lightweight if you ask me.

Again, I'm not saying Khan has a 'decent' chin, but writing him off as another Christie or post-Bowe Hide is a bit too much, too soon.

He might not amount to anything in the long run, but getting sparked by an unknown, undefeated, known puncher isn't proof of that.

And as far as judging just how good Prescott is, you can guarantee that the next fella who steps into the ring with him is going to exercise every precaution available to themselves in order to prevent him from repeating the success he had with Khan. I saw the youtube vids of Prescott just like everyone else, including Khan presumably, and he left zero impression, if anything he looked slow and one-dimensional, exactly the opposite of the animal we saw in there with Khan.

Well he isn't feather fisted, and by virtue of his speed, if he didn't always go looking for the KO and took his time, I think he'd be capable of a lot more than he's shown.

You look at other prospects who went onto reach great heights and there was rarely the same fanfare attached to their early fights as there's been with Khan. Every man he's fought as a pro has known that a decent showing will bring rewards, a win would bring a huge payday.

Physically, he also has those broad shoulders and long arms, as he gets older, if he can pace himself and learn to take his time I could see his power developing nicely.

I'm not gonna write Khan off just yet - he's still a kid in boxing terms. But what I will say is that he will not become an ATG as his camp were banging on about early in his career. I mean come on, if the limited David Diaz can pick up a belt, who's to say Khan won't be able to. On a related note I'd really like to see how Prescott does from now on as he had ko'ed absolutely no-one of note before ko'ing khan and its all very well saying the shots that ko'ed khan would have ko'ed anybody but we really don't know that until he fights someone else decent. Javier Jauergui would be a good bet. For Khan or Prescott.
