From the BBN report it would appear that Femi had his clock cleaned - a genuine knockout from the sound of it.

Surprising and a shame for the lad - he will have to rebuild after this upset.

Still, well done to Barrett! Great result for him.

Terrible result by Femi and just goes to show his limitation's although admittedly I don't know the circumstance's of the fight.

Yep I was there - it was actually me who gave Kev Taylor the info at BBN straight after the fight.

I am totally gutted about the result - Femi is a top man, and he really does "live the life of a boxer" - he lives and breathes the sport - but quite simply he got beaten by the better man there is no other way of wording things.

Femi had no complaints about his preparation and was totally convinced he would win the fight, yes yes whilst I accept all fighters say that, just seeing him before the fight you could see he was okay - in addition he was tetchy and irritable before the fight which told me he was ready as well.

I was in my normal spot on the ring apron in the neutral corner - the first 2 rounds were okay, Femi was getting caught a bit but there again he got his own success too, I have to say though Ryan Barrett looked very strong indeed, I say that because he looked stronger than what Carl Johannesson did when he beat Femi.

The third round things really started to heat up and I have to say it was one of the very best punches I have seen thrown in all the years I have been watching boxing - it happened in the very corner I was stood near - and although it was split second - the moment the punch connected I knew the fight was finished - I was that gutted Femi lost but its one of those moments although things happened fast it seemed to me it was almost slow motion - the punch landed on Femis chin and I tried to rush around the other side of the ring post to turn Femi into the recovery position - because he was out cold for about a minute.

At this point - I have to say I am so thankful for the the new medical rules in boxing - the medics were in the ring quicker than shit off a shovel and so were the doctors and the board officials - oxygen was given almost straight away - what also impressed me was the way the doctor looked after Femi in the dressing room - he assessed the situation afterwards and Femi was taken to the hospital in Jersey where he was kept in over night - I travelled back with Femi the next day to East Midlands airport.

Femi is okay but like any boxer losing a title he is devastated. Femi has had a harder than normal life - he is from Bradford and it is well recorded what he has been through - his defeat has affected me and any one else like Dennis, Richard and the other members of the team more than any other defeat of a fighter - solely because boxing means so much to Femi - yes boxing means a lot to most fighters but because of what Femi has been through so much - his English title meant so much to him and thus my reasons for being so gutted for him.

But like a lot of people say - boxing is a harsh and sometimes cruel sport and thats the way things go - once you stop feeling sorry for yourself, you pick yourself up and go for it again - its another reason why I admire boxers so much they are all such brave warriors.

It would be out of order not to mention Team Barrett - Ryan and his Dad are lovely people - I was giving them some banter in the dressing room before and after the fight and they took it in their stride.

After the fight I was with Dennis Hobson (Who treats Femi like a son) when he went in to congratulate Ryan Barrett - yet again Ryan and his dad conducted themselves in such a fantastic fashion despite their elation on winning a fight that not many people gave them a chance in doing so.

I am still gutted now - never in all the time I have been the "Tea Boy" as many people call me working for various promotions and getting attached to fighters as I got to know them have I ever been this bad - the punch was perfect, the better man won but I am stunned and gutted for Femi.

Hi spud,is it true that Femi came out and went toe to toe with him? i thought he might have stood off him and boxed{i honestly thought he would win}our Paul sparred with Femi a while back,he said hes a really good boxer and an absolute fantastic lad,i hope he picks himself up from this defeat,also well done to Ryan,i don't think many people thought he could do it.

I didn't think it was a toe to toe fight - yeah okay the 3rd round heated up a bit and plenty of punches were thrown but it certainly could not be called a war.

I honestly think Femi is a top boxer - it is well documented that people do not think he is a puncher - but I also believe he could take a top shot as well which makes him a tough fighter to go in against - Ryan Barrett just quite simply caught Femi with one of those punches which landed bang on the button - and before anyone says it nope I am not saying it was a fluke punch whatsoever - in my opinion Femi got beaten by the better man and a top top person in Ryan Barrett - him and his dad have to be amongst the very nicest!!!

With regards to Femi and coming back - I hope he does - but thats for him, Dennis and Richard to decide.

Hello Rhino - I will make sure Femi sees and reads the kind words.

Keep saying to myself boxing has to be the harshest sport in the world - there are absolutely no prizes for coming second - unless you fight in a massive title fight on world level you don't get massively compensated in your purse for coming second.

Yep they are the realities of the sport - but those realities do not hit home until some you know or someone you follow suffers a defeat like Femi has.

Just on another note - spoke to Clinton a bit over the weekend - he looks fit and is throughly looking forward to getting back into the ring in the very near future - I could tell he is back to enjoying life now as he enjoyed some gutter banter and cut me down to size on more than one occasion.

Great kid Femi, came up the hard way.
I'm sure he can bounce back - but often it's not the physical side that's the problem, it's the psychlogical side.
In addition only the boxer really knows the extent of the psychological effects.
He's got a good team around him, and people that genuinely care.
Josh Wale has had a similar experience recently, but through hard work and dedication he seems to have been able to put it behind him.
Not that the two stoppages are similar - in fact totally different - but the overall impact nevertheless very similar.
Look forward to seeing him back in the ring - SOON.

Lots of excuses - not for this forum.

All I know is from a couple of conversations in between him ripping shit out of me at the weekend that Clinton is happy & that he is fighting in the near future, his training could not be going better, we always hear that one, but the difference here is that Clinton has a new trainer and is in a new gym and is very happy about the way forward - that is not slagging anyone off - its just in Clintons case he wanted a change and he is happy that he made the changes he felt necessary if he was going to have one last stab at becoming a world champion again.

Yes Clinton is still with Fight Academy and very happy that he is too - he was one of the guests at a Dinner Show that Femi fought on in Jersey on Saturday evening.

Clinton will either fight for the European title or an eliminator for the IBF title in probably Jan 09.
