Is it just me or does Calzaghe-Jones seem very low key?

If it's meant to be a superfight, it's of the WBU variety. A fight either grabs the imagination, or it doesn't, and this doesn't. It reminds me of the recent B movie starring Pacino and DeNiro. Two aging stars going through motions..

Sure I'll watch it, and I'm trying to work up some enthusiasm I really am - I mean, there's not much else on offer. Calzaghe v Lacy & Kessler were HUGE fights that set the pulse racing, but this one just....doesnt.

Oh come now, money has always been the number 1 driving force in boxing, ever since people paid to see men fight. This idea that boxing has only recently become about the dough is pure "Baltic Avenue" pure rose tinted gibberish

But there are better fights for Joe, not necessarily bigger but better. Dawson, Hopkins, Tarver, Johnson all deserve a shot before Jones

How do you come to the conclusion that Hopkins deserves a shot before Jones? Calzaghe is at the end of his career and hardly wants to go into another hug fest with someone he has already beaten, with someone who was racist and poor in defeat, with someone that tried everything but actually box to try steal a win. With only a few, if not one fight left, why should he re-fight someone like Hopkins over Jones, who like it or not is still on the scene and can still be dangerous.

As for Hopkins beating Pavlick, well obvioulsy that has occurred after the Jones / Calzaghe fight was set, so would you have really argued that Calzaghe should have rushed to fight Hopkins again as opposed to fight Jones?

As for low key - there was plenty of promotion over here a month and a half ago, and there will be more when we hit November no doubt.

Its very low key to me.. I have hardly any interest in it. Jones is so shot at this point. I understand the need for Calzaghe and HBO to hype it up, but its being made for Calzaghe and Jones to make a buck.

A small part of me hopes that Jones finds some way to pull it off through some miracle and/or Calzaghe totally looking past him and at retirement, because if Joe wins, I doubt he'll want to face the Hopkins we saw dismantle Pavlik, who claims he's out to actually fight/KO people now. Jones will probably take the fight because he strikes me as a guy who doesn't know when to quit (ala Holyfield).

Fist - many people believe Hopkins beat Joe -thats the arugement. Hopkins beat a guy who Jones got KO'd by. Hopkins is ranked above Jones.

Its a match I, and a few others, wanted to see the Sunday after their first fight. Its unfinished business.

let's get one thing straight.

Calzaghe won the fight against Hopkins. But in no way whatsoever did Calzaghe beat him.

Face it. Calzaghe has chosen a route by fighting Passed it 43 year old Hopkins, and now way way passed it RJJ. A Route that will have Calzaghe laballed a fraud by many.

A "Fraud" maybe harsh, but imo, Calzaghe is one thing for sure, a waste of talent.

I will watch and am looking forward to it but as has been said it's not the fight it could have been 5 or so years ago. Shame but it's to late now!

I would rather watch this than see him fight Hopkin's again on the back of a win against a fighter Joe would have smashed anyway.

Not to be fickle either but Calzaghe vs Lacy or Kessler weren't huge fight's in my book.

Its low key cos there isnt a promotional firm behind it and Joe cazaghe is death for a promotion if it requires him to speak or sell tickets. The guys personality is obnoxious and dull as ditch water. Roy Jons tho is capable of selling a fight on his own.
That said I see it being competitive. Calzaghe was clearly outpointed by Hopkins no wonder what the partisan brit supporters think. I still think Jones could conceivably knock joe out. Joe would outpoint and outhustle him, but Jones has speed and power even at 39 that joe can only dream of. All im saying is t6hat Joe calzaghe is likely to slap his way to a win by outworking roy but I see it being even after 4 and jones fading. But as a caveat Jones can turn a fight around with one punch and that could happen here.

I think because its on Setanta Sport and not Sky, it isn't getting as much publicity. I think Jones' feet are too slow to beat Calzaghe, and like his fellow countryman Bernard Hopkins, can't fight for 3 minutes a round.

Anything can happen of course, but I have a feeling that Calzaghe will let his hands go more in this fight, as it's his last one, in terms of power that is.

I can see Roy being knocked out for a third time. I don't see Jones knocking Calzaghe out, he couldn't knock out Tito Trindad and that man is essentially a 147lb fighter and Jones was loading up on him for 12 rounds. Jones hasn't knocked anyone out in 6 years.

I think we'd have to go right back to the 97/98 for Jones beating a real name.

I think its a shame that Calzaghe didn't have a chance to knock Pavlik out before he was exposed by Hopkins, that would have been a good name on his resume.
