Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
All those fights are mouth-watering. I'd I'd rather see Macklin V Duddy than against Lee. I think Andy would have too much for either Duddy or Macklin.
And Fagan V Gomez would be better to see than Fagan V Murray, I think. That fight would be the pick of them all I think! An all-out war!!!
Lets get it on :)

WE SHOULD GET ONTO THE BOXING UNION OF IRELAND AND DEMAND THEY PUT THE FIGHTS ON AND HAVE THEM ON PADDYS DAY.
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Great match making, if they want the Irish title alive again and a Boxing buzz back big time in Ireland as a whole then these are the fights to make. Will see ever see them, the sad thing is it is highly unlikely.
It seems to me the Irish board don't have the interest in making the title active by having a system like the British.

Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
im in contact with the hylands promoter and father paddy,
he is going to look into getting a show going with the 3 hyland brothers hopefully defending thier titles and a new lad robert long who is 2-0-0 (1ko), maybe spike o sullivan, jon o brien and oisin fagan too, will keep you all posted on the progress of the show

and the fact that murray is the current light weight champ i think he would have to be involved somewhere
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Great stuff adam would love to see the irish title mean more to fighters, like the lonsdale belt means to british lads, I dont get any sense of prestige from it .ADAMBURKE wrote:NaFianna wrote:All those fights are mouth-watering. Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Paddy ran a joint show in April at the National Stadium and a dinner show recently featuring all three sons and Rob Long so things are looking up. The Irish title has stagnated for so long, it's about time we got some of the fights on that you mentioned and used the title as a credible step up in class for Irish fighters, sort of how the British title is for UK lads.
I did an article called "10 Irish title fights for 2008" or something like that, at the end of last year and I'm proud to announce not one of them has come off so don't hold your breath!

i reckon some of these might actually happen, i talk to paddy on a daily basis he is my father-in-law,
so i reckon the new will be a memorable one, as nothing is going to happen this side of xmas as patrick and edward are fighting in philly on dec 4th and paulie is fighting on 18th of dec in the helix on the randell munroe show
but after xmas id say mid feb to mid april paddy will run a big show
so keep this space open
ill keep every one up to date before any paper or website ha ha lol
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Martin Power vs Colin Moffett, Its a title id like to win and feel proud of...
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Great thread Adam. I feel it’s important to remind the British public that the Irish scene is alive and kicking. To think that most of those fights would sell out arena's unlike in Britain.
On another note, I feel Andrew Murray is the forgotten man of Irish boxing. He doesn't seem to get the fights that he deserves. Man I wish he could get a decent fight, Fagan or whoever at this stage. The boy's got talent and I just think it isn't being utilised at the moment....Damn shame if you ask me

ive seen him fighting a few timesbut a fighter like him its hard to get good fights with an undefeated record unless you have the management who is willing to spend the money on getting you decent fights which i dont think murray has at the moment
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
colin moffett aint a good fighter, the fight he had with eugene heagny shouldnt of been stopped, he was winning every round and was fighting back so i reckon he should get another crack at moffet b4 anyone else.MBP wrote:Martin Power vs Colin Moffett, Its a title id like to win and feel proud of...
then yourself to face the winner

I dont mean to be Rude but i think your right, i see he fought him twice. I never see the fight 1st but he only lost by 2 rounds, and Eugene Heagny has fought Delroy Spencer twice winning each one only by a round so i cant see him being that good either. I have'nt seen Eugene Heagny fight im only going by his Record...
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
sure no matter what we think is right it really dont matter, its all down to the promoters to put the fights to show and promoters only think of money coming in and not what the public wantMBP wrote:ADAMBURKE wrote:colin moffett aint a good fighter, the fight he had with eugene heagny shouldnt of been stopped, he was winning every round and was fighting back so i reckon he should get another crack at moffet b4 anyone else.MBP wrote:Martin Power vs Colin Moffett, Its a title id like to win and feel proud of...

Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
Wheres the Gorman v Walsh for the Weltyerweight title ?
Gorman traveled last year to Cork to fight Billy for the Irish title and lost by just ONE point as the away fighter. Gorman even got a 10th Round KD but it was not counted though the photos do show Billy looking rather dazed to say the least.
Well Packie has got the fight arranged again Gorman vs Walsh in Cork in a few weeks for the rematch of the fight that was likened to Gatti Vs Ward 2. I had the DVD here and they do stand toe to toe for 10 rnds its a great fight.
Hopefully this time Gorman can secure the belt and then maybe get his (deserved) rematch against Andy Murray, (head clash my arse )
As for Rogan v Belshaw that fights never going to happen now for various reasons.
Hyland vs O'Hara been done before and was a blinding fight, I'd pay to watch that one aswell.
Good luck to Paddy if he is ging to run more shows, though now Maloney is starting to run a few in the south of Ireland and has managed to secure Sky coverage, hopefully Paddy can get a few fighters on these bills along side Luke Wilton and that.

Like the thread - like it!!!
HEAVYWEIGHT:
Martin Rogan VS Scott Belshaw - belter of a fight, would Belshaw fight for an Irish title? This has to happen after all the shoite talk between the two clubs over the years.
LIGHT-HEAVY / CRUISERWEIGHT:
Jim Rock VS Darren Corbett - 5 weight champion - get in the pink panther!! Could bring in Ian Timms v Michael Sweeney instead
MIDDLEWEIGHT:
Andy Lee VS Matthew Macklin - I'd prefer Macklin v Duddy - none of these will happen though!
LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT:
John Duddy VS Jamie Moore - what about Duddy v Thomas McDonagh?? or McDonagh v McKay
James Moore VS Henry Coyle - prefer to see Coyle v Gary O'Sullivan
WELTERWEIGHT:
Stephen Haughian VS Neil Sinclair
LIGHTWEIGHT:
Oisin Fagan VS Andrew Murry (or) Michael Gomez - I'll switch this around a bit Fagan v Eddie Hyland at SF and Murray v Dean Byrne at LWW and Paul McCloskey v Michael Gomez
SUPER-FEATHERWEIGHT:
Eddie Hyland VS Kevin O`Hara
FEATHERWEIGHT:
Patrick Hyland VS Martin Lindsay - now that would be a crackin fight - best of the bunch imo
SUPER-BANTAMWEIGHT:
Paul Hyland VS Stuart McFadyen
Bernard Dunne VS Wayne McCullough
Paul Hyland VS Bernard Dunne

Jason McKay has a crack at Elcock for the British coming up. Could be interesting.
Re: IRISH TITLE FIGHTS???????????
dunne is too afraid of this fight!!!!! mccullough is past it and stuart is not in this league, but is eligable for the title if he wants to get laughed atsligobhoy67 wrote:Like the thread - like it!!!

both fighters aint eligable for a title fight. you need to have at least 1 8 round fight and they are too inexperienced to be fighting for a title
MIDDLEWEIGHT:
Andy Lee VS Matthew Macklin - I'd prefer Macklin v Duddy - none of these will happen though!
cant beat a lee and macklin fight
LIGHT-MIDDLEWEIGHT:
John Duddy VS Jamie Moore - what about Duddy v Thomas McDonagh?? or McDonagh v McKay

fagan is at his perfect weight here, same with eddie he is comfortable where he is, and another murray vs gorman might fit in here

Eddie Hyland VS Kevin O`Hara

Patrick Hyland VS Martin Lindsay - now that would be a crackin fight - best of the bunch imo
2 boys are able to fight for irish and british titles so they should fight title vs title winner takes all

Paul Hyland VS Stuart McFadyen
Bernard Dunne VS Wayne McCullough

Maloney did make a few comments too about Rogan v Belshaw.
Honestly I think it would be a cracking fight, provided we don't all fall asleep during it. the fight could be a snore fest with both staying back and only trying to land the BOMBs. Or if Marty has his way he'll go hammer and tong from the bell inthe hope of out working the younger man. All the same its a fight that needs to happen sooner rather than later for both of these guys.
