Alex Arthur and Craig Docherty are on a potential collision course after being nominated by the Board to contest the vacant British super-featherweight title.
The title became vacant when Michael Gomez reluctantly gave up his belt after winning the WBU title.

What is left for Gomez on the domestic scene? I can think of three fighter, Lear, Rees, and Johanson. I'm sure Lear and Rees will be eventual WBU title defences.headhunter wrote:if i was gomez i`d rather keep the british title.
He has the lonsdale for keeps. So he should be trying to move upwards. I know its only the poxy WBU belt, but Justin Juuko is a good start.

This is a good match and makes sense for both fighters and fans alike. I hope Boxing politics allow this fight to happen.bennie wrote:Alex Arthur and Craig Docherty are on a potential collision course after being nominated by the Board to contest the vacant British super-featherweight title.

Before the Gomez fight I would have favoured an Arthur win but now I edge slightly to a Docherty win.

Agreed it a 50/50 fight, both fighters have their flaws and neither stand out better than the other. I think calling an Arthur loss and upset would be like calling an Lockett loss an upset against Farnell.glittermonkey wrote:I wouldn't really call it an upset, to me it's pretty much a 50/50 fight. If it happens i'm going to go for Arthur, but with no real confidence. Should be a decent fight.adamiw wrote:this is great. Best scottish clash since?????.....
I got a feeling Docherty may pull the upset.
I'm going for Docherty though.
yeah i think all us boxing fans recognise it's 50-50, but amongst casual fans, Arthur is the name and therefore will be expected to win.glittermonkey wrote:I wouldn't really call it an upset, to me it's pretty much a 50/50 fight. But yeah, on the forums, and the pundits on TV will be saying it's 50-50.
the odds will be interesting
