My reading of the situation is that FA haven't got involved in the purse bids and maybe that's because something else is in the offing.

Both AMI Productions and Fight Academy have come to an arrangement which both parties are happy with - it is my understanding this fight did not go to a purse bids situation - with regards to the exact date and location this is still under discussion.

No mate - no hints - I have spoken to Dennis this evening - he is presently in Tenerife - all he has stated to me is about having an agreement with the Frenchmans promoter concerning money - at present other things are being negoitiated, things like TV, Venue and date amongst other things.

That is all I know mate other than of course if the fight takes place it will be Jan 09.

Lets hope in the meantime a higher profile opponent comes through to ensure Clinton can go another route - that is purely my own selfish point of view.

Im sure Clinton deserves a shot at a champ but god Spud, he was so dire against Tarver that he needs a confidence builder and a nice title...he loses now and hes finished!

Clinton has personally stated to me he wants only big fights - he realises he has to have an eliminator to get another world title shot but he also realises there is no more time for p*ssing around with soft fights and thus he wants to be severly tested in every fight he has from now on.

He was also honest enough to state if he loses then thats it - but he still feels he has got what it takes to perform on the world stage.

Clinton wasn't himself against Tarver, dunno why but he just didn't look right, hopefully 9 months after that fight he can do the business and get the EBU title then look for a world title shot again.

On this light-heavy theme, it looks like, according to the boxrec schedule, Zsolt Erdei now defends his WBO light-heavyweight title against Ukrainian banger Yuri Barashian in Germany on January 10, as opposed to Basingstoke's reigning British champion Dean Francis, originally linked to the shot.
The unbeaten Erdei, who won the title back in January 2004 with an upset decision over Mexican-American Julio Cesar Gonzalez and has made 10 defences, is 34 but possesses the crafty boxing skills, the durability and the big promotional backing (Universum) to reign for a few more years yet, especially as Erdei rarely strays far from Germany or his native Hungary.
Barashian can fight, mind you. The 29-year-old challenger holds a nice eight-round knockout of Thomas Ulrich, who Erdei was only able to outpoint, and has won 19 of his last 20 fights, the loss in a crack at the vacant WBA light-heavyweight title in his last fight in July. Barashian was soundly outpointed that night by Argentine warrior Hugo Garay - and Erdei holds two decisions, two close decisions, over the same Garay - but styles make fights and southpaw Barashian apparently hurt Garay in the ninth round and claims the referee bought the local man some time. The fight was held in - surprise, surprise - Buenos Aires.
Barashian is a threat, then, and Erdei has been down once or twice, but unless the visitor gets really lucky it is hard to see him toppling such a sober, solid, methodical, stiff-hitting champion.
Also on the bill, unbeaten Russian Denis Inkin maks the first defence of his WBO super-middleweight title against Hungarian Karoly Balzsay.
Inkin, 34-0 (24), won the title, vacated by Joe Calzaghe, with a solid 12-round decision over good Colombian Fulgencio Zuniga in Germany in September. He will know all about Balzsay, a southpaw who fights out of the same Universum gym in Hamburg (promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl) and is unbeaten himself at 19-0 (14). This is a good fight, in fact, a coming together of punchers who have done absolutely nothing wrong in their careers to date, although Inkin has fought the better opposition and is more tested.
Still, Balzsay boxed in two Olympics before going pro (for Hungary) and poses a threat, and we can expect some real fireworks. Bragging rights tend to spark such a thing.

Infact pissing 7,000 ticket holders and Carl Froch around twice was the best move the bum ever made.
