Tarver iced him in 2. Wish I had seen it live and could give an opinion. Ignoring the details of the fight then... where now for Jones? Complete the trilogy with Tarver? Back to Heavyweight? Retire?

Oh, and by the way, thank you Sky for spending my subscription money on SN overhyped shite, instead of buying rights to quality fights. pudenda.

Ref was quick to wave it off, but Jones was swaggering anyhow. The punch didn't look a humdinger, but it's hard to tell from that camera view. It musta been right on the point of the chin, cuz Jones did have his right up. :)

Just watched the clip that someone posted on the current scene. It looked as if Jones was hit bang on the temple. Wasn't a massive punch, though i don't suppose it needs to be.
Nady was right to call it off. Jones did get to his feet just on 10, but was still in la-la land.

As for where Jones goes next. I really don't know. It's only one defeat, but he's already been making noises about retirement. My hope is when the smoke clears he fights Tarver again.

From all accounts he started this fight well and was clearly on top when the KO punch landed. So maybe it was a case of the Montell Griffins in the way he went about the job. In that fight he just tried to wade through the guy in front of him and as a result was hit with some clean shots before he got Montell out of there. My gut feeling is he's tried to do the same thing and it's backfired. IMO, he's still more than capable of beating Tarver (lets face it he's not a great fighter), although he'll have to change the game plan.

Now the RJ Haters will say, What would have happened if he fought Michealshitski, Jirov, etc. Even calzaghe! This is a bad day for boxing.

i picked tarver, I bet 20 quid on him but it is still upsetting for the sport of boxing. i say roy gets out now, he was a great champion.

Yeah, he looked very bad in those press conf photos, like a shadow of himself really. Tarver would'nt have got a result like that when Jones was at his peak.
Amazing win for Tarver, did everything he said he'd do. Saying to Jones before the opening bell "Any excuses tonight Roy?" just shows the confidence of this man.
I thought Calzaghe might beat Tarver........not anymore

Really sad to see the GREAT Roy go out like that. Sounds like he'll be back - probably a 3rd match I guess.
He better make it at a higher weight if he does.

Very shocked at this, from what I can gather Jones looked the boss in the first round. Looked sharp and in control.

Jones should have moved down to cruiser after beating Ruiz. The first Tarver struggle - in and out of the ring - clearly took a lot out of him. But full credit to Tarver for ignoring his opponent's superstar reputation both times and getting stuck in. Often that's all it takes. Look at Gomez-Arthur!

. Boxing has a new star amd full credit to Tarver for proving he belongs up there!

Tarver is supposed to walk around at 220lbs so I'm not ruling a move up to the heavies! Hopefully John Ruiz walks onto a big shot

I'm in shock it feels like the day after Tyson-Douglas all over again. I thought Jones was going to take this one on points.

It looked like a quality counter to me, exicuted with perfect timing, the ref was right to stop it IMO, going from the clip I've seen. I will have to pick up a tape of this fight in the next few weeks,

I'm NOT a Jones hater but I have to admit when I heard the result this morning one of the first thoughts that went through my head was, What if that had been a Bob Foster left hook?

I've watched that clip sooo many times now that I have picked up on almost everything that's happening outside the ring as well. As Jones trys to get up, you can see 2 oldish looking men in the background. One of them really looks like Ian Darke & he is screaming into a microphone as if doing commentary. the other is Jim Watt I believe.

I checked up and Ringside is on Sky on Thursday. We might get this fight on Sky on Thursday. 8)

Why would Sky send their commentators, but not show it live?

They don't normally do that, the commentators are normally in a room watching the footage.

I picked Tarver to win but was not expecting it to happen like this, i hope he stays at Light Heavyweight despite someone mentioning him making Heavyweight. How come as soon has someone has a decent win there is talk of him becoming a Heavy? It's crazy, he should dominate his own division. I always liked Tarver, he was a great amateur and turned pro maybe too late but has settled now after that Harding loss. If Calzaghe beats Johnson i would like to see a fight between the two, i am sure Paul Briggs would have a say as well so maybe a Calzaghe V Briggs fight and the winner fights Tarver? Of course Briggs doesn't hold a phoney title so that's his stumbling block.

Looking at the video clip i think the knockdown is legitimate, i was stunned when i read on teletext this morning it was a round 2 KO and immediately thought maybe Jones had been stopped too early but he was out and Nady did the right thing. The angle makes the shot look like a bit of a graze but it caught him on the temple and i don't doubt it's effects, did anyone see Bob Sheridan with a masive grin on his face at ringside? He was loving it...i think that's who our friend saw not Darke and Watt. Can't see them ahving gone if it was not shown live.
