Predictions on the BIG 4 Brits upcoming contests

Post by Chambers2 »

:box:

Us Brits have got some cracking fights to look forward to over the next 5-6 weeks (JC-RJJ, Haye-2Gunz, RH-Paulie and Froch-Pascal), so Gents nail your colours to the mast and stake your Boxrec Anarok reputations by picking the 4 winners and the method of the win.

1) JC to win a UD against RJJ
2) Haye KO3 Barrett
3) Paulie to win a UD against RH
4) Froch KO8 against Pascal

Mensa,
So I can work out your logic on Barrett beating Haye - when do you think that will happen - early or late rounds, and why ?

Calzaghe UD Jones - I think Jones will have some moments but I think Calzaghe will tag and hurt Jones and Roy will go into survival mode.

Haye TKO Barrett - a latish stoppage I feel which could lessen the Haye stock a fraction. Barett knows how to survive.

Froch UD Pascal - wide win for Froch, might stop him.

Hatton vs Malignaggi - too many variables to really give a confident prediction, mainly cause we don't know about the Hatton/Mayweather partnership. Hatton could be better, he could be clueless. I think had the Preacher been in the corner I would go for a Hatton UD.

I think this is a British clean sweep:

Calzaghe UD
Jones will get through with a few flashy combinations and Joe may even be reeling at points but his workrate will be too much for Jones and Joe will win a fairly comfortable decision
Haye KO 6
Barret could KO Haye early but if Haye weathers the early storm I think he will catch Monte one too many times for a mid round stoppage
Hatton UD
This is a potential banana skin for Ricky but lets be honest Paulie has looked awful in his last two fights (and may even have lost them). Hatton is a far better fighter than ndou or ngoudjo and although Paulie will be able to tag Ricky, Hatton will close the ring off and work the body to win the rounds. Cant see a stoppage either way unless for cuts. Wide decision for Ricky.
Froch TKO 10
I dont know a lot about Pascal but from what ive seen he looks a capable fighter, this is the hardest to predict. Froch can box well and has the power to stop any opponent so ill go for Froch boxing well and managing to overwhelm the Canadian late in the fight

I'll go with early. Can't say I've done any deep analysis though mate, just the basic stuff. Monte's a seasoned heavy with a good dig who's been in pretty deep over the years, and Haye's very much untested up at heavy and had suspect resistance @ cruiser.

Given past performance though mate, my analyis is probably your cue to lump on Haye winning by KO1 at the bookies. :D

Can't wait to see how Haye acquits himself at HW, wouldn't be a shock at all though to see him get put on his @rse by Barrett, and I'm not sure this version of Ricky Hatton will struggle late in the fight even against the feather fisted Malligianni unless he breaks him down early. More confident about Calzaghe (Points win for him is usually easy money at the bookies) and Froch who I think might sneak a late KO.

In Vegas whilst Calzaghe fights, so can't wait to hopefully get a few side bets on with yanks who are blinded by the 90's RJJ.

Calzaghe UD - can't see Jones living with Joe's speed

Haye RSC 5th - The big fear for Haye is that he goes looking for the spectacular KO and ends up getting dragged into the later rounds where questions will be asked about his stamina again.

Hatton UD - Malignaggi doesn't cope well with short aggressive guys - see Ngodgo fight

Froch RSC 10th - I think Pascal could be very dangerous early. This is the most competitive of the four

Calzaghe- late-round TKO (without actually knocking Jones off his feet).

Barret- late stoppage. I've got a nasty feeling that Barret won't be phased by Haye's power and will assume control of the bout from the fifth round onward (I only pray that I am underestimating Haye's power and stamina up at HW).

Malignaggi- wide UD. Hatton will look good for the first four rounds before gassing and being peppered with sharp counters.

Froch- SD. Part of the problem I have with this forecast is that I don't know enough about Pascal. The other issue is that I think it's been too long since Froch has fought a truly live opponent - the step up may befuddle him.
