don't think anderson will win british title again until, brook, mcintyre and a few others move onto euro, fringe world level.
just think from what i've seen that if he cant bully them then he gets frustrated. very one dimensional and struggles against counter punchers and boxers with good fundamentals ie Mcintyre

I thought Anderson was hard done by in the McIntyre rematch. I thought he just edged it. He did look a jaded fighter who was struggling to find his best form. Perhaps a break will have done him good but unless he can improve his defence and footwork he's going to struggle to progress beyond British title level or even regain his title.

I think Anderson would need to improve his feetwork, slow as fornicate now, which is a pity cause he was once very good, but sadly not now

Does anyone know who trains the lad now? Is it still Shannon? I think Shannon ruined the guy, turned him into a slow slugger, hopefully he wont be using the guy again, useless ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
Tony, the article link at the top will tell u more about his training but the short version is yes, Bob is still his main trainer.

Mmmm, had a read over the article. Bit pissed off that he is still with the guy who ruined him??
Why on earth would you do that?? He will have absolutley nothing to offer the welterweight division unless he gets back on track. Good luck to him, he was once very exciting, but his last two fights under Shannon it looked as if he was fighting under water.

Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
Mmm, you may be correct, but I just sat for half an hour looking through Andersons record for southpaws, he beat one for his commonwealth title fight, when Shannon didnt train him, and the guy was well ranked, so I dont think that excuse can fly. I personally just think that he was once lightning quick, with great combinations, and since he's been training with Shannon, he has been very slow and ponderous looking. Surely I cant be the only one to notice that he looked very slow in his last 2 fights??Terry D wrote:Bob did a good job with him for the Magee fight. Could it be that Kevin struggles with southpaws who can box at a decent pace and still move?
Anderson must think he is learning something if he is going back. Give him a fight with an orthodox fighter and then judge.
I hear that Anderson can be a bit of a beer monster, I havent witnessed it, but a couple of pals who stay near him say he's very regularly pissed, falling down drunk
Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
well if he struggles with southpaws hes bang in trouble as he is due to meet barry jones next for the celtic title! see link below

i personaly think mcintyre just had his number ,he never stood in front of him for a second to let anderson throw his bursts of punches, mabay he gave to much away in the spars they had together? there was just under 4 months between the first fight and the remach so i dont buy to much into about him needing a rest . i did feel he took the first fight a bit soon after the francis jones fight though.
good luck to him in the come back

Yeah I can see him having big trouble with another southpaw, especially as he was so slow in his last couple of fights, dont know the kind of training he does in manchester but it looks as if he's moving in a swimming pool, shockingly bad. The great shannon everyone goes on about has totally ruined the lad
Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
Are you suggesting he is a shot/faded fighter.tonysaprano wrote:I think Anderson would need to improve his feetwork, slow as eff now, which is a pity cause he was once very good, but sadly not now

Maybe not a faded fighter, but one who is kidding himself on if he thinks he is still at the top of the tree, not going by his last 2 performances at least. One bad fight, fine, having 2 shockers in a row aint good mate. You dont turn into a dud fighter overnight, so it must be his preparation, that's the way I see it

Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
WHAT RIGHT ADVISE WOULD THAT BE THEN?? Shannon may have had a few knocks in life, and he has done well coming back from a nightmare couple of years for whatever reason, but that doesnt make him a great trainer does it?Terry D wrote:'the great Shannon everyone goes on about' actually busted his arse building up a gym year in and year out without any support from the local council, who have tried to get rid of him time and again, he did it off his own back, persevered through a personal tragedy that would have finished most men off and has never been one of these in vogue trainers. If people do go on about him, and they don't, then maybe it is because they know what he has done to make it in boxing. Working all day and then training the lads at night is no joke.
Very few people go on about him, the ones that do have seen how hard he worked to turn his gym into a place of Champions, in recent times he has had a fairly typical track record with British Champions coming and going, as is the case for most trainers.
Make him the scapegoat by all means but look at the fights, he gave Anderson the right advice, Anderson's loyalty to Bob also suggests that Kevin may feel he stayed in a small gym for too long.
Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
Glad you see it like that, unless you have the success (combined with the lifestyle) of Mike Tyson (there are a few others) then you don't become a shot fighter at 25. That is one thing I see bad a few posters here so many fighters get written off as shot based on an iffy run.... maybe they were overated in the first place.tonysaprano wrote:Maybe not a faded fighter, but one who is kidding himself on if he thinks he is still at the top of the tree, not going by his last 2 performances at least. Re: Kevin Anderson back and targetting Kell (not Kelly) Brook
I'm not saying he didnt get Anderson good sparring, I'm saying Anderson must have been training terribly for him to be so slow, and that must be Shannons fault. I dont see how he gets Anderson superfit, when Anderson is slow and plodding these days?
That's the last I'll say on the subject my man, we will just agree to disagree

So everyones's crap.....Anderson's crap, Mcintyre's a mug and crap and Bob Shannon's a crap no good trainer. I think your post's crap why don't you crap off and talk crap elsewhere.tonysaprano wrote:WHAT RIGHT ADVISE WOULD THAT BE THEN?? If he was that good Anderson would never have got beaten off that mug. Small gyms? Anderson would be better staying there then, cause he's crap now

If he did all that off his own bat, then fair play to the man.Terry D wrote:'the great Shannon everyone goes on about' actually busted his arse building up a gym year in and year out without any support from the local council, who have tried to get rid of him time and again, he did it off his own back, persevered through a personal tragedy that would have finished most men off and has never been one of these in vogue trainers. Sorry to dredge this post up after so long but I noticed last week when the BBBoC schedule came out that the Barrie Jones and Kev Anderson fight had been shelved.
Does anybody know why and what what Kev's plans are now?
