Your probably aware of it. Most boxing students and historians are also aware. I don't see any info on his 9-05-1892 fight regarding "The Carnival of Champions" It was a big deal, if not the biggest deal, at the time. New Orleans 9-5 McAuliffe, 9-6- Joe Gans 9-7 Sullivan-Corbett. (think a 4th Championship was involved, maybe not, American Championship lighter weight. Help! Was it two World and one American. Championship or 3 world and one american. If there were 4 what was the other one? Just checked, 3, Dixon, not Gans. Losing it. Famous picture at Sullivan fight. Taken from the back shows the fans and the ring. Men are turned around looking at the camera. My Great-great grandpa was one of them. Had his copy signed by John L years later. All that historic stuff got thrown away in 1946 by my grandmother after my grandpa died. Was only able to find the records at the dump. My dad and I got there too late. Scavengers got all of it. Somebody out there has a lot of valuable stuff. Never seen any of it come on the market. Many signed boxing gloves. Pictures. Stubs. Signed town sign for the Kilrain fight. Oops! sorry. I'd would like to see a little paragraph for 9-5,9-6,9-7 fights. Might be interest to the casual fan.

Stan use the Cyber Boxing Zone. The record on that site is much more well researched than anything in the Ring.

I recall reading about the "Carnival of Champions." George Dixon put a beating on Jack Skelly, which if I'm not mistaken, resulted in a law forbidding white and black fighters from facing one another for a long time. I remember a couple of newspaper reports describing how terrible it was to watch the white boy take such a beating from a black man, but I don't think that the writer used the term "black man" to describe Dixon.

Gosh.

How many white fighters did Joe Walcott fight?

Who did he win his title from?

How many white fighters did Joe Gans fight?

Who did he win his title from?

I doubt if Baz would be able to answer those questions.
