Scott Dixon attacked and left for dead

Post by scottishboxing »

Shocking news from the world of Scottish boxing.

Scott Dixon was attacked and severely beaten last Wednesday night and is now recovering in hospital. It's unlikely that he'll ever box again and is lucky to be alive.

More details and links to press reports at http://www.scottishboxing.co.uk.

:o

damn, similar thing that happened to Magee.

shit. well i hope he makes a speedy recovery and some how does box again, but it doesn't look likely. Sounds like he needed some of that bravery he has shown in the ring to get him trhough this.

I heard about this over the weekend but didnt want to mention it, as i wanst sure if Scott would have liked me too.

I know Scott really well from his days at the Peacock and we were actually texting each other on Wednesday evening, just before this happened

Scott is a great guy and obviously I wish him a speedy recovery...

He has the heart of a lion and i am sure that will help him pull through

I met Scott once and he seemed like a genuine nice guy and it blew me away when i saw this today.
I wish him all the best and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery, and as you said he's never been lacking in heart, so good luck to him.

Jesus! This is horrible news. It was clearly a premeditated attack and the police need to make it a priority. Scott must have an inkling who is behind it.

Scott has mixed with some dodgy people in his boxing career.

Scott was was born in Hamilton in 1977 and took up boxing at the age of eight.

He was coached by grandad Toby, a former fighter.

Scott is also a karate black belt.

He spent a week in intensive care in 1997 after suffering a suspected heart attack in Tenerife. He developed severe chest pains as he trained on the island at high altitude and in high temperatures.

He left Lanarkshire in 1999 to live in London.

Trainer Jimmy Tibbs introduced the boxer to Christianity during his spell down south.

Scott became known his Superman shorts.

He aimed to claim the British light-middleweight belt.

Scott caused controversy that year when he said there was 'something that needs thumping' about Anthony Farnell's face.

In 2001, Scott acted as Hollywood actor Brad Pitt's body double during a fight scene in the film Snatch.

Scott returned to Lanarkshire in 2001 to be put through his paces by former European welterweight champ Gary Jacobs.

But a broken ankle forced him out for six months...

Wow, reading that report it all sounds very mirky indeed. He wasn't merely attacked, he was kidnapped!!!

That rules the "wrong place at the wrong time" element right out of it. His attackers knew it was him and knew full well why they were doing it.

I wonder who Scott upset so much to lead to this?

boxing world rival? ...loan sharks? ...who knows!

Toby's a bit of a lad.
I tell you who's a naughty boy, too. Dixon's last opponent, Matthew Macklin. But Macklin surely wouldn't resort to this.

Hmmm.... but the motive is an issue.

A beating like this is usually over one of 3 things;

(1) drugs
(2) money
(3) politics

People don't do this to someone merely because they don't like them...

This is related to some dodgy underworld dealings I'll wager. Backed up in my view by the fact Scott "couldn't quite see their faces", and "can't think who'd do that to him".

Probably because they aren't the sort of people you grass up.

This is horrible news and there is obviously more to this than meets the eye, first Fenech then Magee now this!

I have a very good friend who lives not too far from Scott, I shall ask her if she's heard anything about this situation.
