Audley Harrison continues to tread water as he takes on gutsy Irishman Martin Rogan in a 10-rounder on the Khan-Fagan bill.
Harrison is rebuilding - slowly - from a shock three-round knockout at the hands of Reading's Michael Sprott in February last year. He has boxed only twice since, halting unheralded American Jason Barnett in five rounds in the States and tapping his way to a 10-round decision over Brazilian sub George Arias last time out in September in Manchester. The giant southpaw from Wembley really needs to push on now at a creaking 37 but looked typically cautious against little Arias, a former cruiserweight, and the crowd jeeed him with a chant of "You're shit and you know you are." To be honest his world title aspirations went out of the window once Sprott nailed him with a cracking left hook in that meeting at Wembley. Harrison was 'out' but if he gets past Rogan, a return match with Sprott is in the pipeline and possibly a showdown with burly Bedford Bear Matt Skelton. Heady stuff it ain't. One thing is for sure, Harrison has very little to show for his seven years as a pro, apart from a healthy bank balance, courtesy of the BBC.
So to Rogan, who is unbeaten in 10 fights and deserves this opportunity as an honest, likeable and genuinely tough individual from Northern Ireland who picked up first prize in the 'Prizefighter' heavyweight tournament at York Hall in April with three solid wins, one over former amateur star and pre-tournament favourite David Dolan. The oldest of the eight participants (he was a very late starter to boxing), the 37-year-old Rogan received a cheque for £25,000 and will certainly get stuck into Harrison. He has quite quick hands and reflexes for a brawler type, although it's hard to see him winning this. Still, if only Harrison possessed half of Rogan's hunger and fire...

Rogan is pretty much made for Audley .. oh what could have been if Audley had signed with SN straight away.. :P

Ask him. He's an approachable, confident guy. Wouldn't you just love him to rattle Audley?

yeah he fought for ireland as an amateur. Infact he turned pro when, at something like 32, he was disciplined for breaking an irish curfew at an international event. If memory serves he was already out of the tournament and went for a pint. The coaches went mad to which he basically told them to fornicate off as he was 32 feckin years old, not 18 or 19.

Yep. . . He's not even rematching Sprott or fighting Skelton, or fighting a fringe world class guy like a Cedric Boswell. Just a 10 fight novice nobody has ever heard of.

After seeing the last prizefighter (sam sexton won), I think Audley would beat all of them in the same night! They have guts, but they need it, because they are the reverse of audley.

Audley has technical skill, but no heart or guts.

The prizefighters are lesser known guys, with limited skill, but have the chance of a "scalp" once in a while.

I still think Aud will win easily.

audley needs to consentrate on the british title before he goes anywhere
