Mike Tyson v Tommy Morrison

Post by Roco »

Could this fight have been made?

Was Tyson out and about while Morrison was still active, if so I'm surprised it was never made, it would have been a dream match.

Obviously Tyson wins as I don't think Morrison could hurt Tyson like Tyson would hurt Morrison

I believe there was so talk of the fight happening when Tyson came out of Prison, but Lennox Lewis pretty much ended Morrison's chance of landing a fight Tyson. Lewis beat Morrison comprehensively & I don't think Tommy was the same again!

Tyson would have took care of Morrison in quick fashion in my opinion. I mean, what would Morrison have done, try to outbox Tyson? No, he would have had no choice but to meet fire with fire & because of that, he would have got bombed out! Even though Tyson was no the fighter he was in his heyday, he was still extremely fast & powerful.

Morrison would have gone out on his shield though. I don't see Tommy just being there for the big paycheck. Would have been an entertaining bout, but Tyson would have got to Tommy quite early.

It may have happened around 1996, but obviously never came to be. But really, only one winner.

I think their is a few YouTube clips about suggesting Tyson was
scared of Morriosn....clips were made by Morrison fans.

I think it would have been a brief and exciting fight, not a good
night for Tommy.

I would have liked to have seen it happen in early 1996.

But alas time robbed us of another intriguing potential match.

it would have been an exciting build up to this fight. i see morrison coming out quick and landing a good hook that makes tyson hesitate and smile before throwing a monster right that glances of the top of the dukes head and putting him down for the count. morrison fights bruce seldon for his comeback fight and both connect in the first round with a phantom punche for a double ko

I Suspect a much more harsh version of this will happen to 'The Duke'.

I'm not sure it gets much harsher than that. Could Tyson manage any more brutal a finish to a fight than what Mercer accomplished there? Probably not, especially post-prison. Tyson was a much better finisher than Mercer, but that was absolute top-notch. Not-letting-a-guy-off-the-hook 101, there.

Morrison was to fight Art Weathers on a DK undercard in early 96 then fight Tyson for the WBC title after Bruno. Shortly before the fight his blood result came back and the Weathers fight was called off. So they did come close!

Bad match up for Morrison as Tyson takes a better whack than he does, but i would assume Morrisons heart and big punch would make for a couple of entertaining rounds before Tyson wins via kayo.
