Heavy action this weekend

Post by Datsue »

...on Don King's improbable Chinese show.

That paragon of predictability, that champion of consistency, Andrszej Golota, is in with the big & almost equally uneven Ray Austin. Will Austin's right uppercut make Golota cry? Will Austin, a guy who got wobbled by Larry Donald, be able to withstand Golota's solid, head-jerking combos? Will Betfair be offering odds on just how the Pole will get himself disqualified?

Also, laugably, there is an eliminator for the WBC strap between Jameel Decline, uh, I mean McCline & Mike Mollo. Yes, an eliminator. The mind actually fricking boggles as to who thought that this was either a good idea or worthy of eliminator status, & it raises the terrifying prospect of McCline in another world title fight.

Watching the Peter fight (masochist that I am!) the other night, it struck me just how hard the guy must hit, 'cos for all his heavy-handed prodding the Elder Klit didn't seem to scramble Sam like Jameel did. But really, can anyone stand to see him bottle it again?

Well the WBC has forced VK to fight JCC next, which means he wouldn't have to face the Mollo v McCline winner for what, a year? By which time McCline will be 48 years old and Mollo will remember he's needed as fashion advisor on the set of My Name is Earl or some such.

Nice to see DK doing what he does best, pushing heavyweights and breaking new markets.

Admittedly, all these four need to be a long way away from the USA viewer to get work....

Did anyone just watch Golota get smacked around by The Rainman? (Why is Ray Austin called that, BTW? Is he autistic?)

Fecking hilarious. Down twice (I think, stream was choppy), complaining about his arm or summink. Quit after the first round. I look forward to his next recycling in 2011.

Good result for Austin in the entirely alternative world of the sub top 10 heavyweights.

That may be enough for a Valuev shot....or similar.

Id imagine Golota did enough for a shot at Valuev too.

Here's a link to the fight, picks up after 10 secs or so, and I think Golota was floored in the first 5 seconds apparently. Weirdly glancing at his arm early on, though still throwing punches with it.

But like James says, no big deal, Andrzej will still get another 3 or 4 world title shots down the road.

Presumably because his name is Raymond. Tom Cruise's character was supposed to have called his brother "rain man" as a nipper bcause he couldn't say Raymond
