Stacy Goodson used to manage Fagan; I think that says it all.
Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
Amir Khan launches a quick comeback in December in London against gutsy Irishman Oisin Fagan, scheduled for 10 rounds.
The much-vaunted Khan, a former Olympic silver medallist, suffered a disastrous first-round knockout at the hands of Colombian bogeyman Breidis Prescott in September in Manchester, losing his unbeaten record in the process. Unsurprisingly, it was his first - and last - fight for Cuban trainer Jorge Rubio, who had recommended Prescott as an opponent (ouch!). Now trained by leading American guru Freddie Roach, Khan is still only 21 so there is plenty of time to rebuild him. He needs to tighten up his defence, obviously, and pace himself and 'think' more in there. Khan rushed straight out and traded with a fast starter and a proven puncher in Prescott, who had 15 wins inside three rounds. Two knockdowns later...
Khan's chin, or lack of it, poses a bigger quandry for Roach. Khan was matched with a succession of non-punchers prior to Prescott and still went down a few times. Then he meets a genuine puncher and is destroyed, all over in 54 seconds - Prescott even hurt Khan with a jab. Who knows? The unbeaten Prescott might turn out to be really good (and is now highly ranked in the world).
To the 34-year-old Fagan (pushing 35), a Dubliner who never boxed as an amateur and comes in with a brawler's reputation and a record of 22-5 (13), much of it compiled in the States, although he fights out of the notorious Oklahoma circuit, notorious for its tank towns and fighting gas station attendants, and beaten nobody of any note. One of his victims, Oklahoma City's Lee Cargle, lost to Duke McKenzie 22 years ago. Fagan did go in with former IBF lightweight champ Paul Spadafora last year in Michigan and was outscored on a split decision after 10 rounds, a decent enough performance, although southpaw Spadafora looked to have won clearly. Julio Cesar Chavez Junior, renowned as a 'protected' fighter, also outscored Fagan back in 2004 in Las Vegas. Chavez makes even Khan look old.
Importantly, for Team Khan, Fagan is not a puncher. In fact he looks the perfect opponent for Khan at this delicate stage of the Bolton youngster's career: short and tough and raw and aggressive and brave. Khan is much the bigger man, much the better boxer. His hands are so fast they appear as a blur in the ring. He boxes his way to a morale-boosting decision.

Well, Fagan's genuinely a lovely guy outside the ring, but in it, he's animal.
DD I don't think eamon will need to show him too much in that dept.

Well then you'll be homeless.I'll be putting my house on a Fagan win.
Khan will beat him comfortably, think about it for a second. Fagan is small and not a particularly hard hitter and will come forward all day. He can only fight one way and Khan will keep him at the end of his jab. Fagan is tough but he is a brawler and he has neither the size nor the skills to trouble someone with Khan's speed.
Khan will have improved after the Prescott loss, Fagan is getting old and seems to have be living off a close defeat to an out of sorts Spadafora. What other decent result does he have?
Khan will pepper him all night and, for all hsi guts, there won't be a thing Fagan can do about it, unfortunately.

fagan 'coming forward all day' is a nightmare for khan. As soon as he gets hit he will panic and the wheels will come off again. this is fagan's meal ticket - who the hell would be coming in to face Amir Khan just to roll over, when there's that glass jackpot being waved in the air?
Fagan KO 5.

Nice write up Bennie .. who are you writing for now?
As I have previously said .. this is 90% a dead cert for a Khan win.
Though as pointed out .. Khan has no chin what so ever .. so Fagan does have a punchers chance, and as long as he`s on his feet he`ll know that ... and alot of guys with china like chins tend to get even more fragile after a KO loss.
Wide points win or a late stoppage with the ref jumping in late to save Oisin whilst still on his feet .. and the Khan con rolls on

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
Seems like a pretty decent fight to me. Khan will have height and reach advantage and should win but he needs to cover up more and not get carried away. Fagin is tough as nails and wont be stopped easily. Fagin doesnt have the skills Khan has so I think he will be looking to take Khan out rather than trying for a points victory. Its a fight Khan must win or he can forget the big time.

You think so
maybe you missed the last line..
"Wide points win or a late stoppage with the ref jumping in late to save Oisin whilst still on his feet .. "
can`t get much more sure than that.

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
amir should beat fagan easily, and fagan must have a punch if he stopped 13 out of 22, as an irish man i will be rooting for fagan, and i know he will keep khan busy all night but the result can go either way cos khan is training with freddie roache but yet he wont be in his corner which is going to confuse him and thats where fagan steps in to expose that chin and goood-night khan

1. Do you work for Sports Network?
2. Since when did being small and not a particularly hard hitter mean that you couldn't deck Amir Khan?
3. Who has Khan EVER kept on the end of his jab??

Gairy St. Clair3. Who has Khan EVER kept on the end of his jab??

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
I personally think Fagan would beat St Clair at this point but that's irrelevant anyway, styles make fights. St Clair was a little guy with zero pop and bringing not a whole lot of pressure.
Fagan is a bigger guy with more pop and bringing a considerable amount of pressure. Even if he will be easier to hit than St Clair, he'll hit Amir more than St Clair did, and harder. Plus he's tough. And better than Limond.
I'm worried that round odds for Fagan will be no better than 40/1 for this one.

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
I think Fagan's going over in this one.
Fighting on the tank circuit for our very own American Clubfighter & meeting the (wasn't he fresh out of prison or summat?) remains of Paulie "I couldn't deck a pack of cards" Spadafora does not inspire confidence. I've never really rated Spaddy, even in his pomp & Kimbrough is awful, frankly...
But, you know. Amir needs the W. Those trumpeting this as some kind of incredibly brave step are being hoodwinked, I feel, or simply bigging up their bloke. Nowt wrong with that, of course, but I can't see him being hitter enough to get Khan out of there. I know Limond dropped him but it hardly did him much good in the long run, did it, because he lacked the power & finishing ability to capitalise.
BTW, I'd back Willie to outbox Fagan, meself.

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
Where in your little mind did you get "Fagan is dreadful" from? His only losses in his last 15 fights were against a former world champ, Paul Spadafora and WBA #14 ranked, Verquan Kimbrough. And they were in their hometowns, ON SPLIT DECISIONS. So, if being on par (or better in most people's eyes) with world class fighters is "dreadful", then your standards must be very high. You must be a very good fighter yourself- a world champ perhaps?
Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
BTW, for us in the US, where could we find a link to watch those fights in the UK on the 6th Dec? Is there a website that streams it?
Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
I don't look much into the close defeat to Spadafora, Spaddy was past it and more interested in shooting women at that point. It's a decent comeback opponent(much better than I was expecting anyway) but I don't expect Khan to lose.

This fight will pan out exactly as I have said!
Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
St Clair tagged Amirs Chin quite a few times in that fight. I couldn't believe how poor Khans defense was. St Clair is only 5′ 4?
It's a guarantee you're going to take a few big shots to your head/body in a high quality fight. Every time a big shot has landed on Amir he's been in trouble. I thought Khan was going to go down from Gomez's body shot. I can’t see how he’ll ever become anything. He’s been struggling already, he’s not even proved he’s the best in Britain yet.
Fagan is bigger than St Clair. He's bound to land one on Khans chin. Does he have enough power to wobble Khan with one shot? I don't know much about Fagan.
As long as Fagan is up for it, he has a good chance.

Re: Oisin Fagan to fight Amir Khan
Fagin has stopped more than half the people he has fought, so he does have a punch. Every fighter with a punch will fancy his chances against Khan, just as Prescott did, they just need to wait for their chance and go for it. As Khan steps up in class he will be floored again, no matter how much he improves his defense, punches will get through, and you have to be able to take them. Khan has proved he cant take a punch, so I dont see him making it to the top, Euro maybe. Fagin has a punch, so he has a chance.

Apollo called it bang on the ehad, as did a number of others on this board.
Hold your hands up now anyone who seriously tipped Fagan in this one...
Come on, don't be shy...
