Post by adamheight »

the show starts at 9am sydney time which means we wont be getting all the undercard because the setanta UK show starts at 9pm london time which is 8am sydney time.....still im not compliaing! im just happy were getting it!...

would have been nice to have been getting ufc 91 live on the same day but never mind, main event have decided to show that on monday morning for some absurd reason

this will be interesting. i wonder how much it will prove though? Monte lost to cliff couser a few fights ago, so no one can suggest he is a top flight test. an easy win for Haye and everyone will say it was expected. A points win and people will say he doesn't have the power. a loss and it's over for Haye.

However, you do have to start somewhere, and this is about the right spot for Haye i think. I hope i get to watch it.

Monte's a good gatekeeper. He had a blip against Couser that he avenged shortly afterwards. I think how much it will prove depends on how long the fight lasts.

Yeah haye has really put the pressure on himself since destroying macarinelli, telling everyone who'll listen how he'll ko all heavyweights and take over the division. If this fight doesn't end within 4 rounds people are gonna think he's hot air....but he does seem to enjoy pressure. I remember the mac fight when he came to the ring he was like strolling, looking all around the arena and laughing to himself like he knew winning was just inevitable for him.

How come there's so much hate on these boards for british fighters? Y'all gave joe a hard time, and now u wanna see haye screw up....plus everyone here seems to hate carl froch....adding to that, there was jubilation when khan got ruined....

As for haye, don't u guys savour the thought of some excitement in the HW Division for the first time in about 5 yrs?

if he fights half as well as he talks sh1t then he'll go well in the division.

It's a funny thing you know. Australians, standing in pubs with mates, are as good at talking sh1t as any men in the world (some of the women too for that matter). But we expect those who are good at what they do (including boxing) to be humble and respectful for the opportunities and career (usually much more lucrative than the average persons) that sport gives them. Yes most sports people work hard to hone their talents, but so does just about everyone who goes to work for 7-10 hours a day. We in australia, have grown up with and enjoy watching extremely talented people who are confident in their ability, but still humble and respectful.
Even giving it little thought i would imagine there are only a few who dislike sports people such as Kostya, Danny Green, Steve Waugh, Ian Thorpe (bit fruity though), most of our female swimmers and the like.
They don't shot off at the mouth about their ability, they don't make insulting comments and the are, in general respectful.

Mundine, Haye and others like them are not the way we like to see sportspeople act. They might be great, but it isn't for them to determine that with their words. Actions speak volumes, not hot air.

BTW, when i say "all Australians", "Australians" and "we" i actually only mean my opinion, but it sounds better when i generalise. :P

shit.....didn't think i would get labelled a "pommy hater" just because I was asked who I was going for and I replied with my pick. If you you have a look at my previous posts, i usually go against the trend eg; crazy kim against mundine and i didn't get labelled an "abbo hater". :o i do the same down here with my mate who is a boxing scribe. aren't we precious???

I just assumed u were hating coz u picked monte barrett over a man who is the most devastatingly dangerous prodigal-prospect to arrive on the HW Scene since 1985

adam, i will tell you a true story and you can check it out. when jimmy thunder was terrorising aussie H/weights they brought out another bigger, stronger version called tommy hammer. i went to dallas brooks hall to watch the fights and he was on undercard and they had to call in last minute replacement off a building site. he walked in the ring with blue singlet on and sunburnt to hell and proceeded to KTFO this tommy hammer. the blokes name was steve hudson. since that day mate, i have NEVER taken for granted the result of a fight with 2 blokes in it.

i don't like david haye either but i respect someone who is willing to put it all on the line against an honest challenge dont forget he is a cruiserweight and barrett can be unpredictable but if he wins he might get his dream fight with one of the kitchkos the only way to prepare for fighting them is come out of your comfort zone and take on a few more real fighters good luck david haye even if you get knocked out your still a warrior with heart to have a go

Barrett isn't the worst opponent for someones first real go at heavy but he in no way whatsoever prepares someone to face the Klitschko's.

as i stated he has got to take on more real opponents barrett on his own is not enough but least he can be dangerous but here in australia they play it to safe don't take any gambles and let everybody down because they never fight any hard fights and go straight for a world title because they have got a good padded record then they wonder why they get knocked out . HELLO YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE
