What job is that mate?

Payney is right, the Mail is aimed at middle-aged, middle class white supremacists and women :)

Junior did what he had to do and looked decent doing it - the opponent's desire to win was questionable though.

Policy and media assistant for the UK operations of an international charity (bit of this bit of that). Off the record the mail is fornicating horrible... however they sometimes do good stuff on the contributions of women in the family its just a shame they want them to stay there.

Society would be a better place if one parent stayed at home. Two working parents is the crucible for materialism over parenthood, spend over save and the catalyst for everything that is wrong in society, particularly those problems associated with the young. Knife-crime, teenage pregnancy, anti-social behaviour, obesity, morale antipathy, lack of respect, petty crime as well as debt, benefit addiction for those old enough to acquire those two ills etc.

How can a woman provide the home, diet, care, stimulation, patience, love, educational input, the moral lessons to her children if she works 20-40 hours a week? How can she BE there for her kids, if she isn't, actually, there?

Thats my view, and I wont be persuaded otherwise. I'm not against women working and plenty are hard working more cpaable professionals than I, but children are a choice, and with choice comes sacrifice, if you wont make that sacrifice - make different choices.

I know there are thousands of examples of exceptional parents who have to live the life above because of the departure or relationship break-up and they do tremendously to survive anyway they can. But for all those who claim they need two incomes to maintain or achieve their standard of life, I ask - and what criteria are you basing you standard of life? Providing the parameters and environ for your children to flourish, giving them the gift of time and attention or how many inches your LCD is or whether you kids have been to Dinseyland or how new your 4x4 is or whether you can afford a big fridge to cater for 12 bottles of Jacobs Creek?

My house works on simple rules. And my children will be better, healthier, happier for defined role models and a structured existance.

Fingers crossed:-)

Junior Witter fought really well by the way.

You live in a dreamworld mate - how many people in the UK can afford to live off of one income, people don't have much choice these days.

Who defines realistic aspirations, you?

Also, it very much depends where you live. If you live in London - unless one partner is earning about £50,000 a year how are you going to afford rent, bills, transport, paying for a kid?

I'm on the best wage I've ever earn't (about £35,000 a year for those who are interested) and even without a kid, and my partner working as well, and no plasma TV, Car or other expensive toys), and I struggle to get by with outgoing of around £1800 a month. If I had a kid and my partner didn't work, we would be absolutely screwed and basically living hand to mouth.

Your situation isn't too different to mine James. I have two kids with similar outgoings.

Perhaps I've not conveyed my point very well, perhaps I'm deluded but whether it is plausible for people to jump to a 1955 lifestyle or not, the point is, society as a whole would be healthier if it could.

Perhaps, but unfortunately you cannot 'uninvent' all the toys people have accumulated or seen others accumulate since 1955......it's just not possible.

If people want to live outside of society, it is very difficult, but still possible, but involves monklike levels of ascetism, because you would have to somehow avoid it all and live in an alternative world.

There are quite a few squatters still living this sort of life - perhaps that is why they are demonised so.

I see no reson to assume it should be the woman who stays home. But I am glad they recognise that women at home make a contrabution that wass my point.

On Witter what does everyone think he should do next.

Disagree it isn't as simple as this, whats wrong with society is ethics and morals are dirty words. Schools aren't allowed to teach them, parents don't have the gumption or responsibility to teach kids right from wrong.

Having said all that aren't we being a bit Daily Mail 'all the youth are out of control evil little criminals' brigade? There's allot of quality youth out there.

I'm wanting to start a family with my girlfriend, fingers crossed. I want her to stay at home but work in my business, when the kids are old enough they'll be working for the family business too, if they want any pocket money

Both my parents worked and it didn't affect my parenting, I was well happy when mum started teaching, I could skip school occasionally

You're on £35,000 and get £1,800 a month? Are you getting taxed to fornicate or is it your pension plan mate?

Fight like he did on Saturday, defeat Ajose Olusegun. Witter boxed really well. Nice compact punching.
Agrred, I'm not his biggest fan but on Saturday's form he and Ajose would be a good fight with the winner deserving of a title shot against Bradley. It's last chance saloon time.
