A rich and powerful person is holding a party. One of the guests arrives early and immediatly seeing that he is the first one their, he takes the seat of honor next to the host. During this time he is gald he came early because he will feel good when the other guests get there and see him sitting in such and important spot at this man's table. When the host and everyone else arrive, the thost notices the the man sitting in the seat of honor, he also notices that there is someone there more distiguished then him. So, the host tells the man who got their early to get up so that the more dsitguished person can have the seat of honor. the man then humilated had to get up and take the lowest seat.
The same rich person is holding a party the next year. A distiguished man gets their early as sees that he is the first one there. Out of humilty he takes the lowest seat. When everyone arrives, the host sees that the man sitting in the lowest seat is quite distiguished. Confused, the host tells someone else to get up and the man in the lowest seat to take a higher seat at the table. The man then feeling honored gets up and takes the higher seat.
Anyone who exalts himself in his pride will be humbled, anyone who humbles himself in wisdom will be exalted.
Anyone who is forced to humble himself in fear will be humilated, anyone who willingly humbles himself when he could be proud will be honored.
