Thompson caught him flush on the chin a good few times and he was more exhausted than hurt I felt, although many won't agree.
Anyways it can't go far surely either way and have taken the under four and a half rounds bet with Ladbrokes at Evens for a good few bob.

Thanks for pointing out the under four and a half odds Global, I've had £50 on that. Plus a few quid on 1st round Haye and a quid on 1,2,3,4 Barrett. Hoping I've got my bases covered and they come out swinging!!

I'm assuming he doesn't make any mistakes, but he's so confident, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take his time. That could spell trouble, as I reckon Barrett could make him pay with just one punch. Rounds 4-6 are a good bet if Barrett survives the early going. Odds on those rounds have halved since last night.
Wonder if they had to pay Vitali to attend...I bet they paid for a firstclass ticket for the big man.

Well I was way off but I'm pleasantly surprised. Really refreshing to see a heavyweight in shape and in particular the fact that Haye's realised he doesn't need to put on a hugh amount of weight to be effective.

give him f*ck all credit - I told him and anyone else who would listen that Haye would weigh in at around 215-220 - ffs don't applaude DG he will make out he is an expert - mind you I think he is right about Malanaggi beating Hatton as well - so maybe he is a boxing expert!!!
Holy shit! Mother of God! David Haye is the Dogs Bollox. Monte Barrett's one of the quicker Heavies and he looked pedestrian in comparison, a BIG lumbering heavy of the ilk of Sam Peter would just get teed off on. Dare I say he's got Tyson like power, yes I think I will, "David Haye has got Tyson like power", he's definately going to have to conquer BIGGER chins than Montes along his way to Greatness, but the early signs are looking damned good!!
Bring on the Klitschko's, they'll both end up going the same way as Monte!

Harsh words, but I am pig sick of the Monte Barretts of this world parading as leading heavyweight contenders by virtue of their ability to disappoint. The heavyweight division is in trouble - it has been for years - and Barrett and his blubbery cronies and Don King are to blame. Make way for some younger blood, for some charisma, free from the reins of King and his American puddings and ghastly Eastern European robots. If David Haye is not quite Mike Tyson in 1986 he is Evander Holyfield in 1988, a former undisputed cruiserweight champion who has moved up, who can fight, who wants to fight and who trains like he wants to fight.
Next up for him could be Vitali Klitschko, the giant Ukrainian who strolled out of a retirement of four years in October, without so much as a warm-up, and pasted Samuel Peter for the WBC heavyweight title, which sums up how much the heavyweight division needs Haye. Peter is a fat, stumpy African who goes by the nickname of "The Nigerian Nightmare". A more literal nickname has never been read. Klitschko, too, is one of those 'robots' I mentioned, colourless and glum, but he is the most efficient robot out there, along with his younger brother Wladimir. If I were Haye, even this soon into his heavyweight adventure, I would jump at the chance to lick the Klits.
Haye is quick, lightning quick, and he whacks with it. Vitali is slow. God! He makes arthritis sufferers look speedy, though he knows how to use his great height and reach at distance. Wlad is less of a fighter but the prettier of the two and looks have got him an awful long way, it seems. He does hit reasonably hard.
What I am doing here! Breaking down the strengths and weaknesses of humanoids. Give me that colour again. The Hayemaker. The future.

Certainly was spectacular, fast knockdown punches coming from out of the blue, Barrett down 5 times.
Good to see Haye come in light, fighting for speed. Barrett didn't look too bad and Haye got him out of there.
There were some minuses, such as staying on the ropes too long, throwing wild shots, no looking physically strong on the inside. Must have been a lot of pressure, promoting & headlining, but ultimately he did the job in style.
My thing is, I think Haye will iron out flaws, as he takes on different fighters and styles. I have to question the wisdom of fighting Vitali next year, though. I mean, is he world class enough already to go into these top level fights (gven that he's a former world champ)? Or does he need to do it Evander style, 5 or 6 fights, vs shot names and dangerous contenders?
The Klitschko bros won't be around forever. I see Wlad losing next spring to Povetkin, Vitali has been injury plagued. Maybe Haye feels he has the solution for tall, methodical "fencing" styles having put away the 6'4 Macca and the 6'6 Gurov?
Vitali - the better of the 2 bros - must be rubbing his hands together. His next 2 fights could be against former crusierweight champs. So while the class level may be close, the size and strength difference will be very pronounced.
Obviously he looked good BUT he was easy to hit with his hands down especially with the jab but open to all shots really and he was put down hard. His punches are also quite very wide. He could get away with all this against a slower 37yo Barrett, against a quicker taller rangier Wlad he will get picked apart from range and eat something big. Vitali I just see him beating because of age
Oh and he has got HW power, but hes not that devastating at the weight
I think he will be devastating at the weight - he caught Monte with clubbing shots on the back/side of the head last night and he still went over. Imagine if David landed a sweet right on his chin - I think he could've been hurt bad.
