Natural talent - a new take

Post by Deserter »

So, bear with me guys as you'll need to digest this lengthy article - http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/bl ... l-outliers), but for those who like me are fascinated by the nature vs nuture debate, this is essential reading.
I remember in the past I've had some lively debates on here regarding whether a boxer is just blessed with natural talent or can be 'manufactured' to a degree, and Malcolm Gladwell's latest sheds new light on the subject of 'natural talents'.
Would be really interested to hear others' thoughts once they've read it - what does it say about the likes of Hatton, for example?

Correct Memory and desire seems to be the answer. Learning Motorised Skills correctly, good practice.

It's just the most convincing detonation of the 'natural talent is all you need' myth that I've ever come across. Definitely going to get the book.
