Hey guys
what is Jeffries actual record ?
Within his 18 wins I note he fought some 'exhibitions' that seem
to be included as pro wins. Does that mean we should include for
Ali, Louis, Holmes etc all of the exhibitions that they fought during
their careers ? It seems a few of his title fights were scheduled
as 4 round affairs.
Was the 1900 Jack Finegan fight a proper title defence ? Or was it
merely an exhibition. Can anyone tell me about Jack Finegan..
The 1901 4 round ND bout against Hank Griffin ... was this a non title
affair because Griffin was coloured > Was it even a 'real' bout ?
Who is Joe Kennedy ? I sadly do not know much about him.
Thanks again guys. Appreciated.
James Jeffries questions...
Re: James Jeffries questions...
Finnegan was nothing much and the Griffin fight was an exhibition where Hank recieved his money for lasting the distance by continually, "Tug Wilson" style dropping to the canvas.
Kennedy was decent enough second tier fighter, maybe even better a la Griffin, Stelzner, Childs, etc.

Childs and Griffin were awesome, check their records in their primes. Griffin ran from Jeff for 4 rds because it was stipulated that if he survived he won. And he did.
Re: James Jeffries questions...
If memory serves me right he didn't run as much as drop down when in trouble.
Childs was a very good fighter with an excellent record but Griffin from what I can find on him is over-hyped nowadays. There is an assumption that from what we know of Griffin, that what we dont know about Griffin would make him great, but apart from the (green)Johnson fights, there is nothing more remarkable about Hank than, say, Kennedy.
