Breidis Prescott

Post by JAHamilton77 »

Considering a lot of the British Boxing public don't seem to have much love for Amir Khan, is Prescott become any sort of hero over there? Any clamber by British promoters to feature him on another card to capitalize on his new name recognition?

Strange question I know, but just curious.

not really.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the people who were happy that Amir lost do not even know who beat him, let alone think Prescott is a Hero.

Nah. I'm not back in England for a couple of weeks yet, but I always keep my finger on the pulse of what is happening over there. Most Brits don't even recognise the names Junior Witter or Danny Williams, let alone remember who knocked out that Indian kid from the Commonwealth games. *deliberately facetious end comment there, by the way!*

I'm very interested to see him again, particularly against one of the other decent brits like John Murray, John Thaxton.

I get the feeling his promotional situation is 'interesting' though so who knows when or if it will happen

I would of thought another fight would of at least been announced by now, after all the Khan fight took absolutely nothing out of him whatsoever and we know Khan is fighting in the next few weeks...but no Prescott :-?

I think it would have been too embarrassing for Khan/Warren if Prescott continued over here. Even in defeat, there is more profile in Khan on the rebound, than there is in having Prescott fight for an international title or get pushed into a fight with one of the proper champions (probably Campbell).

There's no certaintly that Prescott is a terrific fighter. Looked great vs Khan, handled the pressure, dealt with the speed, etc. But he was bad in that fight v Abril.

I think Arena Box have signed him, and I would think they'll match him quite aggressively. He should be near the top of the WBO ratings. Thus far, WBO keep on giving their mandatory spot to big names like Guzman and Barrera, so Prescott may have to sit on his ranking for a while.

I heard that Sports Network have options on him. I also did hear that he was on the 6th December bill but that's not come to fruition, so please take my first statement with a pinch of salt.

I'm sure I read in Boxing News that Arena were claiming his signature and (totally out of character) Warren was unhappy and filed a solicitors letter or something. I would be very surprised if Warren let Prescott slip through the net after he became a household name following the Khan shellacking.
