question for the historians...
Not sure if bennie of kev from bbn can help me on this one... What can you tell me about johnny basham? Its a great grandfather of a young lad who the missus teaches. She teaches johnny owens story, aswel as other tales of welsh boxers, especially to the lower level kids, one of thems great grandfather is said mr basham... any info?

Impressive record, those were the days doing 20 rounders and he was Brit and Euro champ, he must of hated the sight of Ted Kid Lewis though, going on from that what a rivalry Lewis and Britton must have had

Ted Kid Lewis invented the gumshield and is one of the greatest fighters this country has ever produced, if not THE greatest.

Ted Lewis beat my Grandad's mate, Gus platts and took the middleweight euro belt from him. my Grandad used to spar with Platts, a real character. He later went on to be the landlord of a famous Sheffield pub.
