Damn, Ted Kid Lewis just fell short!
I demand a recount!
D
LOL, I love how our HOF has stricter standards than the real one.

Cervantes needs to get in next time. He deserves his recognition.
Re: Boxrec Hall of Fame Voting Results (November 2008)
I've had Cervantes on my last several ballots.

Re: Boxrec Hall of Fame Voting Results (November 2008)
Just a few stats worth noting:
-Only 1 fighter was elected. (Previous low was 3)
Last election, 3 were elected, time before that 6, the time before that 14 fighters were elected.
-Only one fighter came within one vote. Ted Kid Lewis got 10 votes; 11 were required.
-Only two fighters got 9, and only two more got 8.
-A grand total of 6 fighters were on the majority of our ballots!
-108 different fighters got at least one vote.
-This includes 43 fighters who got only one vote.
-No fighter who began his career after World War II received even a majority of the votes. (8 or more.)
-Only 1 fighter was elected. (Previous low was 3)

Thanks for the stats breakdown, Alp.
I personally don't have a problem with 1 guy getting in. It's better that it's difficult to get voted in.

I agree with Ezzard. As you said we had 14 get in on one ballot, so I think things like this will happen. Remember it's harder to get in the BoxRec HOF than it is the IBHOF.
Don't get discourage Alp, you're doing a good job. Now go make a list of the 50 greatest Free Safeties in NFL history.

Re: Boxrec Hall of Fame Voting Results (November 2008)
Perhaps we could begin a lobbying process. I'd like to see a few get in next time, perhaps we could find some common ground, have some civil conversations on the merits and get a few more fighters in based on some sensible discussions.
I'll take the pledge not to triangulate or be overly self serving in my advocacy for any one candidate. It is harder for me to truly bring my best advocacy game to fighters I have not seen fight. Though I do go back and attempt to read up on those whos record consists of newspapers and word of mouth handed down through generations.
Those fighters I have met and have witnessed can end up on either end of my list in a pretty energetic form and I'll just have to keep those opinions in check I suppose.
