Craig Watson & David Barnes In With Hayemaker?

Post by Poncey »

I thought this was public knowledge, but don't remember seeing any press releases on it. Perhaps I missed it. Good signings for Hayemaker. Stable is looking better and better by getting a good fighter for every divison.

Brook v Watson presumably won't happen now. :verysad:

Barnes has a Brit title fight v Lynes coming up, is that in jeopardy?

Profiles of both boxers are on the Hayemaker website.
The Barnes fight is not in jeopardy.
That fight was made before Barnes signed, I believe.
The stable's looking good - not harmed by a few decent results !
Casting aside the allegiance issue, the two bills put on by Hayemaker have been spot on.

I think the Haye bill could have been better considering the price of tickets. It put me off going. The Rhodes fight was good and enjoyed it.

I agree leforge, but to be fair to Hayemaker didn't have any say in the prices. AEG set them. Hopefully the bigger/better the stable the more value for money next time. :TU:

Its not worth having shows at O2 then. How do pop concerts work tickets are much cheaper.

Haye bill was a bit expensive I thought - 40 quid to sit miles up in the stands well away from the action. The undercard wasn't exactly thrilling either, and with a Haye fight, you know chances are it's going to be over sooner rather than later.

I must say that I do not like the idea of fighters being their own promoters - it's not really in the fans interests, the fighter is going to make sure that above all, they get well paid, and therefore the quality of the undercard is compromised.

Having said that, other promoters manage to do the same by ensuring THEY get well paid.

As far as I'm aware, O2 have a contract with David for 3 fights (I stand to be corrected on the number of fights). They pay him a site fee to show the event. They then establish costing of parking and tickets for the venue.

AEG also have a contract with GBP, and a stake in them now, so it will be interesting to see how they manage the Klitschko fight if it happens.

James, £40 is a lot cheaper than the other two O2 fights I've been to (Haye v Enzo and KHan v Limond) and UFC. It was £50 to sit in the top tier above that was closed to the public for last Saturday's event.

course they have a say in the ticket prices, hayemaker sign the initial contract, you would be naive to hand over ticket rights if you were unsure of how the public were going to be treated. but, the fact o2 did the '2 for one' thingy kind of lessened the bill. im hoping hayemaker knew about the proposed prices as they claim to be in this for the fighters and the fans !!

the 2 hayemaker bills so far have been decent, at this stage certainly no better than hennessy or a lot of warrens. but this can be improved by hayemaker building up their stable of fighters, and it looks like they are doing this which is great. i honestly think hayemaker are a breath of fresh air to british boxing and i hope they can go from strength to strength.

they need to sign a few more 'fringe' title fighters, to attract the crowds, to pad out undercards, and provide main event fights for the smaller hall bills.

i hope they pull it off, the signs so far are good !!!

Sorry mate. I know for a fact Hayemaker don't. Ticketmaster told me all this when I phoned them and they've pretty much backed this up to Dirk when he's complained to them. So far we've hit a brick wall, so Dirk is gonna contact Elliot and Jon at Hayemaker because we're pretty pissed off about this.

It was £1000 to sit ringside for Maccaroni v Haye.
In fact right through the pricing structure they were more expensive than the Haye bill.
O2 controlled the pricing, sorry Rhino you're wrong.
I believe they've looked at the Maccaroni pricing and thought a little lower would suffice but clearly it didn't work.
To be fair, they've then reacted but too late to assist those that had already purchased.
Every new entrant to any business goes on a steep learning curve in the early stages.
I'm sure that Hayemaker / 02 will be discussing this issue.

Both sides are denying who is at fault for the prices and 241 offer. O2 and AEG are blaming Hayemaker whilst Hayemaker is blaming O2 and AEG. Who wins, certainly not us.

The little dip shit told me the following to which I've just replied I don't give a rats ass about all the others that bought cheap tickets that you upgraded, I'm concerned about what you did for us which was fornicate all!

Dear Mr Kelly

The number of tickets sold meant that all guests could go into the level 1 area of the arena, ensuring a better atmosphere for everyone. I appreciate this is frustrating for you, however we were upgrading as many people as we could into better seats, and many who bought tickets at full price in level 1 were moved much closer to the ring.

I hope this helps.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the response. So are you saying people who bought the cheaper level 4 seats were then upgraded into the more expensive seats near us? If that's true you're not going out your way to convince us to go back to the O2!

Dear Mr Kelly

I am sorry that you have had difficulty in resolving your ticket issues for the Boxing on Saturday night. I can understand the frustration in companies passing people around as this can be frustration to say the least.
In this instance, the ticketing prices and how they are distributed is controlled by the promoter, and then managed by the ticket agents.

The Promoter, ‘Hayemaker’ in conjunction with us at The O2 chose to issue a special deal (2 for 1), to help increase the number of seats filled on the night. The special offer was intended as a generous offer to the public.

You may have noticed that level 4 people were being upgraded upon entry as ticket sales didn’t warrant it to be open. Our customer services team was also in a unique position to be able to upgrade people, should they have felt hard done by missing out on the special.

I hope that you did enjoy your night, and that you did find yourself very happy with your seating situation.

Kind regards,

Dan Bond

Hi Josh,

Thank you for replying so quick. That's what i assumed but when I originally rang Hayemaker they said that AEG paid them a site fee to stage the contest at the O2 and they set the prices and buy one get one free offer hence why I came to you next.

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for your email. The O2 does not own or sell any tickets for events that take place in the venue. All ticketing is handled by ticket sellers, who receive tickets directly from promoters for each event. The decision on pricing and promotional deals is made by the promoter of the event which in this case is Hayemaker Boxing. If you would like to contact them their website is www.hayemakerboxing.com

Thanks,

well, ill hold my hands up and im happy to be wrong but i find it strange that a promotor would hand over all ticket pricing rights to a venue, surely you would want to have a say in the price the punters pay, because the purses for the fighters etc needs to be sorted out prior to fight night. and gate receipts reflect fighters purses, as do tv rights.

am i missing something here......do 02 pay promoters to stage events here, under the o2 banner. or does the promoter pay o2 for the venue. if its the former then i can understand how the venue can control the ticket prices, all a bit bizarre really. but im keen to know the truth in this.

FACT - AEG set the prices!!!

FACT - even when Hayemaker tried to get a few tickets they had to pay for them!!

FACT - Hayemaker banged onto the O2 to drop the prices even before any tickets were sold.

FACT - O2/AEG left it far too late in the day to make any deals on tickets - if the prices had been set reasonably in my view there would have been thousands more in the venue.

Never mind - lesson learnt.
