According to this close to 20 million sterling, surely that can't be right???
It also reckons he has earned more than 50 million in his career, thats huge money, he would have never earned that with FW

"Hatton earned $2.5 million for his night’s work, while Malignaggi was paid $1 million, the biggest purse of his career."

from the associated press.

IMO reading the Sun newspaper is one step up from reading a beano comic

I also read that Hatton got $2.5 mill, but that seems a bit low. I would have thought he received $2.5m, + his share of the UK ppv. I can't believe he was looking at close to £20 million. But as I can't believe the Scum, that's hardly surprising.

Either way, he ain't poor.

Why do they even print that shit?!

Yet THE SCUM still has the biggest readership in Britain...amazing really.

It just shows how stupid or disinterested in something like the truth the majority of this country's newspaper readership really is, and I would suggest that the majority of newspaper readers are GENERALLY smarter and more politically/socially aware than those (between 18-65) who read no papers at all...so what does that say about them?!?! A small number must be conscientious objectors to newspapers in general, or too busy to read newspapers but the rest (which must still be more than the other genuinely excusable demographics combined) must be absolute ignorant fuckwits.

Also, $2.5m seems pretty low for a fight of this "supposed" magnitude, no?

Bear in mind this is dollars.

As mentioined above, The Sun is one step above the Beano, so whats wrong with reading it for a bit of light entertainment?

The Sun is cack but it has page 3, occasionally a funny joke or two, Dear Deidre serves up some funny tosh from time to time and the football coverage is occasionally pretty funny.
All for 30p. What more do you want?

Papers are 90% bullshit, written by twats, yet they are entertaining and value for money considering how cheap they are.

As Emerson mentioned it was on 'regular' HBO so his cut from the US side will be fairly fixed.

Obviously the UK side will be tied to PPV buys and as none of us has seen any numbers yet we don't know.

There was a bit push on advertising though - it was all over the advertising boards at premier league games. I'd expect about 400k buys in the UK.

I'd suggest all in he'll get about £3m gross from Saturday

Because it's owned by one of the biggest pudenda on the planet, who is obssessed with demagoguery, fear-mongering & thinly veiled bigoted bollocks. This lizard -- sorry, "man" -- would like to see individual civil liberties reduced to a range of lifestyle consumer options whilst under twenty-four hour video surveillance under the strapline "Well, if you've got nothing to hide..." & at the same time he rants & raves about any form of taxation, restraint or fetter on the behaviour, practice or skullduggery of faceless corporate entities.

The man's an utter utter utter twat, & I for one wouldn't wipe my arse on his filthy rag if it was a choice betwixt that & a ricin-covered cactus.

£3-4m sounds about right to me, depending on how the Sky PPV did. Ricky makes most of his money from the UK.

I take all media with a pinch of salt because each and everyone of them has their own agenda ie."sell stories" not one media outlet in the world tells the truth, it's all either lies or exaggerations of the truth.

THE SCUM is the worst though

There are some good journos out there banj, have faith mate. Problem with a lot of the newspapers is that they don't have a dedicated boxing writer.

LEts have a think:

Brit PPV: 400kx£10 (lets say Sky keep the rest)=£4m?
His share of HBO Fee: £2m?
His share of Las Vegas Site Fee: £2m?
All in £8m?

Obviously less taxes/expenses

The 20 Million $ was not claiming to be the purse - but everything including his PPV UK cut and other shit - ticket sales etc

I would say about half of all those numbers. I'd be very surprised if Hatton got $3.5m from HBO. And the Sky cut of the PPV is too low I think.

HBO paid DLH $5m for the Forbes fight and $3m in total for the Mosley v Mayorga fight, so it's certainly ball park. I'd be happy to drop $0.5m, but it'll be around that.

It amazes me how people can be so against a newspaper like the Sun. True a lot of what they print is sensationalist, scaremongering and often simply false, however most of the so called "respectable" papers are exactly the same except they run their stories against a thesaurus before printing it. Do you think the owners of many of the broadsheets don't have agendas that they push in their editorials and that Murdoch is the only one doing this?

The Sun has far better sports coverage than a lot of broadsheets and they make no pretense of being anything other than a quick read for a low price. If I want to read an intelligent debate on the economy then im not going to buy the Sun. If I want to improve my vocabulary then I will read a book. If however I want to find out the football scores and read a few transfer rumours in the ten minutes I have spare in the evenings then why shouldn't I read the Sun?

As long as you are aware what you are reading then read whatever the hell you want.
