Sad news. Say what you like about Booth but he fulfilled his job description 100%.

What a prick. And if he'd turned up at court when he was supposed to, he would have got a lot less.

Does anyone know why he did it in the first place?

cos he is tapped in the head.
no sympathy from me, he is a reasonably successful boxer who should be able to make a living at something he is good at, how dare he go into other folks homes and rob. What an idiot.

There must be a reason why he needed the extra money and i didn't really want to presume the worst, but that seems to be the obvious answer.

Well enough people were prepared to give Tony Ayala Jr a break so I think it would be a shame for everyone to descend on Booth for a far lesser crime.

In fact, we all pretty much forgave Corrales, Hopkins, Tyson, Dean Francis, Riddick Bowe.. etc didn't we?

The difference is some of those on your list are reformed characters, who show a reasonable amount of remorse for their crimes. Booth failed to turn up for a court appearance, which to me suggests a disdain for the law. Bottom line is i think the guy's an arsehole, while some of the above just made stupid mistakes. Maybe he'll mature after a year or so in prison, but i don't think he's going to.

Let the lad do his time. If he's no different when he comes out then you won't see me defending him.

Fair enough mate. Do you think it'll change him though?

Beat someone up in Reading or Basingstoke, if I remember correctly. Did a fair bit of bird.

Couldn't possibly say as I don't know him. Fingers crossed. I know many don't rate Booth as a fighter but he (like Jason) has always appealed to me, his sense of timing and the way he puts combo/counter punches together in a boxing ring completely belies his, shall we say, intellectually challenged persona out of it.

The other two charges were "left on file". Wasn't one of them a racial charge?

OK, so I have double standards. I always liked Tony Ayala, I dont like Booth.

I think they're both solid European class fighters, but i wouldn't go as far to say that i enjoy watching them. It's the fact that they both come across as cocky that i don't like, being self-confident is one thing, but they've taken that to the realms of arrogance.

Likewise my hope is that it will change him (i really don't want to see anyone self destruct the way he's doing), but as i said before, i don't think it will.

To be fair Nicky & Jason (particularly Jason) normally give plenty of credit to their opponent. Nicky didn't have any problem admitting live on tv that Nathan Sting had got the better of him while Jason's show of sportsmanship after beating big rival Dale Robinson last time out was at a level you don't often see.

Yeah, a charge of racial harassment or something. If you do a search on Booth, there's a thread on the original charges.

Think he had a row with someone in a Take-Away, if I resall correctly.

Didn't the victim get a broken jaw?

I seem to recall Dean and his camp said it was in self defence.

Totally agree 100%

Although I would like to add I hope whilst he is in The Big House he realises the the error of his ways and comes out a reformed character, for his own and societies sake.

i must admit I tend to have a softer approach to someone belting someone else late at night having been in a fair share of rumbles when going home its very easily done, and if I in one case or someone else in others had wanted to press charges it coudl well end up in court then who knows.

fortunately its not happened and Im past the age when I get so freakin hammered that I cant steer myself away from trouble.

Burgarly though is something different its not a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, its premediatated and its happened to me before, its friggin horrible knowing someone has been in your bedroom and through your stuff, violated your space. Give me a smack in the mouth anyday over that.

Despicable in my view, but that just my take.
