MARTIN MURRAY - Proved that you can risk a prospect in the Prize-fighter competition by winning the Middleweight one on Saturday night. He breezed passed Joey Rea with a class performance , beat Danny Butler who just seemed to want to hold in the semi and then went to war with Cella Renda in the final and came out the winner due to dropping him in the first. Martin will have a well earned rest now and next fight on the under card of the Jamie Moore European title shot.
BLACKPOOL TOWER SHOW
JACK ARNFIELD – Moved to 8-0 with a 4 round points win over late substitute Paul Royston who stepped in when original opponent Matt Scriven pulled out at 3pm on the day leaving a mad panic on. Jack hunted Paul round the ring and Paul did well to survive , we thank him for turning up.
JON KAYS – Suffered his first loss to Craig Johnson in his first 6 x 3 mins fight but did us proud in a really good close scrap which could have gone either way.
STUART McFADGEN – Beat Anthony Hanna for the second time and improved on their first fight which is all we can expect.
RICK GODDINS – Moved to 5-0 with a shut out points win over Daniel Thorpe.
ALEX MATVIENKO – Came back from his first loss with a nice win over David Kirk.
CHRIS OBRIEN – Kept his Burnley crowd happy with a good win over journeyman Peter Dunne.
MATT ASKIN – Beat Paul Bonson on points on his pro debut , his first fight since winning last years ABAS.
MATHEW ELLIS – A good comeback saw him beat Luke Simpkin who gave a good fight but was outclassed at times and even got dropped in the 2nd round.

Is the bill going to be on Channel M? I like their shows, just wish they could extend it to 2 hours.

How did Matty Askin look?
Bonson isn't the easiest guy to make your debut against, you know he's going to be standing at the final bell.

Re: VIPBoxing.com News Murray wins PrizeFighter & Blackpool Show
If the Hatton fight did a lot of PPVs, this will be good for Murray's profile. He won a very exciting tournament, produced some classy boxing and some tough brawling where he had to. It will be good to see some of Hatton's fans maybe start getting interested in the younger Manchester fighters. I mean, Hatton got popular on undercards of very exciting guys like Farnell and Gomez, didn't he? Just as it was sort of passed on to Hatton, it would be great if Hatton could pass some of it on as well.
Reckon Murray will have graduated to Sky shows permanently now. Interestingly, Maloney slammed the Prize Fighter tourneys (at least, he didn't seem to like the 2nd one, as seen in BM) and now he will have a piece of a Prize Fighter winner, due to his work with the guys at VIP...?
Will be interesting if Murray gets fights on the UK leg to future Hatton PPVs as well.
I remember an interview on a Channel M show, Murray seemed to hint that he underachieved as an amateur / wasn't as dedicated as he could have been. Also, he seemed to turn pro quite late. Anyone know why?

Re: VIPBoxing.com News Murray wins PrizeFighter & Blackpool Show
Alex/Sam- If either of you can get me schedule info I'll add it on asap. Like stu, I never know when the shows are on unless I check Sky (not always the most accurate), or Stegsie releases a press release on here.

Emerson ,
The Blackpool show is going out Saturday the 6th December at 7pm for the first time and will be repeated over the next few weeks.
The Leigh show is now being repeated and is worth a look , you can also view them on the Chanel M website along with the seconds out boxing programmes.

Hi YoYo ,
Yes still got to keep the boys busy and working on a few, but going to get Frank Maloney to look after more of the experienced Pros now who will be looking to become champions in 2009.
Finish this year with Jolly boys XMAS dinner where Gary Sykes will top the bill with 3 good prospects underneath - Lee Jennings , Karl Place and Tyrone Nurse.
New year kicks in with another mega show at Blackpool on 24th January 2009 where 3 young kids will be turrning over and having their debuts. Then it will be a massive show early March with Frank Maloney promoting the European title fight for Jamie Moore , just sorting a big venue out.

Hi Steve,
Will Maloney be promoting/co-promoting Martin Murray after MM's recent success? If so, does Frank like Prize Fighter a bit better now?

Autobarn ,
Frank has been helping me with Martin Murray since he turned Pro and will continue to do so , but I think he will be more involved now as Martin is really a TV fighter after last Saturday.
I do not think his opinion on prizefighter has changed but you would have to ask him . He certainly did not want Martin in the show as he felt all he was doing was giving fighters a chance to beat him over 3 rounds where as over a distance they would not live with him , I think that was the case too.
Martin wanted to do this for the exposure and it was his choice to do it - the gamble paid off , just!!

It is funny that Hearn hasn't putting a clause that he has option on the winner of Prizefighter - kind of like an X factor situation.
