Yep based on outright quality of opposition, admittedly some were past their best but still can't think of any other modern fighter with as many major names on his cv.

Hatton looked like a Belson victim at the weigh in. To me he looked starved to death rather than chiselled and fit whereas Malignaggi looked very good at the weight. People are saying Paulie is a shit boxer and I have to agree he hasnt looked good in his last two outings but he is a better fighter than he has shown of late. I think Hatton will get it on a tight decision which is not good enough if he wants a crack at the winner of ODLH/Pacman. This really could be Rickys last stand and I think it will be. Most definately if he loses.

I think Ricky will stop Maglianaggi in 6 rounds.

I think Paulie is taking this fight with a bad hand, and with a contentious victory or two in his recent past because he knows he can cash in his chips here.

He'll be awkward and slippery but he cant deter Ricky and if Ricky shows 20% more restraint (not improvement) just restraint, he'll not struggle to hit Paulie.

Not bad given my recent run of form.

But Maglianaggi is a dilute version of what he needs to be to win.

A slippery fighter doesn't get tagged as much as he does.

Just because he uses tweezers on his eyebrows doesn't mean he's hard to hit.

But he still only 70% of his best, at best.

Hatton has been preparing for 12 round fights since 1856 and has never, unless the scales have been adapted for his benefit, failed to make weight. His two biggest struggles were at Welterweight where he is short squat and not a concussive puncher.

He's slipped, yep, he has. Whether its form, motivation, age, opponent quality, tactics - whatever.

Regardless of his lifestyle, his style of fighting was never going to see him outboxing young-bucks from distance aged 38.

I'm coming full circle on Hatton the fighter. I still loathe the wannabe chat-show, money making, cheeky chap persona, owt for a tenner ethos, but as a fighter his resume is thickening up and you have to surmise a JMM victory or MP victory before a DLH showdown - forlorn though it may prove - would be some crescendo.



He's a dynamic, hit and be hit, box fighter.

Haven't seen the whole fight either, but caught a round or two on the internet and it didn't look that exciting. Mallignaggi looked poor from what I did see. Skysports have a 3 hour showed booked in this Friday so should get to see the whole fight then.

Love how the mouthy Mallignaggi has effectively had his gob shut by Hatton, so now he immediately transfers the talk to the validity of the stoppage. Hardly the point is it? Sounds like he was beaten all the way by Hatton, so just shut up and accept it.

Yes, I don't want to criticise the work of Kerry Kayes- but I wonder how good the new "look" Hatton would be a Welter. His body shape looked different at the weigh in previously and he also looked cut and so fit at the weight. His body shape reminded me of Pacquiao in many ways, and he is someone who has gone up the weights effortlessly.

I wonder if Hatton will be a better 147 fight now.

I was very impressed with Hatton's footwork. Paulie's fast, but just couldn't get away from him. And Ricky made it look effortless. I said the outcome would depend on Hatton's conditioning, and he was in superb condition this time.

He's only fought 2 fighters who could be considered "great" (Cotto and Hatton) and he was well beaten by both of them...

So much for the "Great Malignaggi" who would putpoint Hatton...

Ngoudjo, Holt, Kotelnik or Bailey could even come close to betaing him...

Yeah, Hatton was very sharp. Far too good for Mallignaggi. Ricky made him look ordinary, which must be a very bitter pill for Paulie to swallow, since he thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

A better fight to watch than I thought it was going to be simply because Hatton boxed so well.

I'd like to see him take care of another leading lightwelter, Bradley would be ideal, then get another blockbuster.

At the moment almost everything looked great for Hatton, his old movement had returned, worked at a good pace for 12 rounds, stayed calm and looked a real classy fighter as opposed to the wrestler.

The only thing that still worries me is how he is marking up in the Lazcano and Malignaggi fights when you think of how few times he was caught.

While I agree the Current Scene has some absolute nonsense on it, I hate to say that I'd also favour Cintron over Hatton by mid-round stoppage. He's a huge Welter with genuine KO power. Just because Margarito has his number doesn't mean Ricky could do him.
