Following Dunne's win over Faccio on Saturday and the Munroe press conference today in Dublin, Brian Peters makes a further offer via press release:

Deafening silence from Rendall "No Show" Munroe

Rendall “No Show” Munroe was mysteriously absent from a press conference in Dublin yesterday which confirmed that he will be defending his European Super Bantamweight title in the city next month.

Munroe’s no show came after a weekend in which promoter Brian Peters upped his offer for the European Champion to defend his title in Dublin (against a real challenger – Bernard Dunne) to £60,000.

However instead of fighting Dunne in Dublin for real money Munroe and his promoter Frank Maloney have elected to defend in Dublin against obscure Italian, Fabrizio Trotter for what is likely to be chump change for the champion. Conveniently Munroe wasn’t in Dublin yesterday to discuss the offer but Maloney was only too happy to sidestep the issue on his behalf.

“Frank made his usual excuses about needing to see the offer in writing,” said Peters. “That’s the whole reason why I went public on this, my last offer of £40,000 was ignored by Frank other than to mumble some excuse about not wanting to fight in Dublin.

“Obviously with Rendall fighting in Dublin next month that no longer seems to be an issue so I’ve now increased the offer to £60,000 and we’re still getting excuses. I’m amazed to be frank as I was told by a few people that Rendall would jump at the chance to make some real money. He’s obviously either being held back or just doesn’t want to risk his title against Bernard.

“Either way it’s disappointing as a fight with Bernard would be a great occasion for Irish fight fans although I can’t see too many of them getting excited about Munroe defending his title against Trotter.”

I'm surprised at the re-offer especially after that nasty cut Dunne suffered on Saturday night.

Personally I think it make much more sense for a dunne v Munroe fight to take place in Ireland as Dunne has an army of fans that will pay to watch, it also alway us to showcase some of the up and comming Irish fighters on a UK televised card as well.

I'd pay to go and watch it.

Surely Munroe must be chomping at the bit to accept this kind of money, he's probably getting about a third of that per defence currently and if he's going to be fighting in Ireland anyway he may as well fight Dunne and get well paid for it.

FRANK MALONEY has blasted Dubliner Bernard Dunne for blowing his chance of a shot at European super-bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe.

Maloney offered Dunne the opportunity to challenge Munroe in England on November 22 but the Irishman's manager Brian Peters was clearly running scared and refused the fight.

When the show was scrapped, the bill was moved to Dublin City University on December 18 meaning Dunne would have had crucial advantage on home soil.

Maloney laughed: "Isn't it funny they wanted the fight in Dublin and if they signed the deal they would have got their wish.

"Dunne has blown his chance of appearing on one of the biggest Irish cards for years."

Dunne will now have to wait at least one year to become mandatory challenge as Kiko Martinez who flattened him in 86 seconds last year is currently in that position.

Maloney added: "If Dunne and Peters want to get glimpse of Munroe they are welcome to watch him defend his title against Italian Fabrizio Trotta.

"In fact they can sit in one of Brian's pubs and watch the fight on Sky Sports. There will be plenty room because everybody will be at the arena watching Darren Sutherland."

Ireland's Olympic bronze medallist Sutherland makes his highly anticipated debut when he boxes a six round super-middleweight bout.

Sutherland is a student at DCU but is currently taking a break to fulfil his dream of becoming a world champion.

Other boxers on the star studded bill include Irish light-middleweight champion Jamie Moore and London based Irishman Martin Powers.

Two Commonwealth titles see Craig Watson defend his welterweight crown against Adnan Amar, while Bantamweight Jason Booth puts his crown on the line against Sean Hughes.

Has Brian Peters got a problem getting his name in the press or is he just becoming an egomaniac coz I have dealt with small hall promoters and the premier promoters and yes they do use the press to draw attention or to force hands to make fights.

To openly negotiate through the press shows lack of experience and ignorance, I see Brian has e-mailed me the press release and a letter of offer as Brian has decided to negotiate through the press and this forum I will not lower myself to this level I pride myself on being a professional and I do not need to see my name in the paper daily but tonight I am meeting with Team Munroe to discuss Brian's open offer which has changed 3 times, all I will say about the offer is anyone can place a letter with a figure on it, there is no date, venue or time when the fight will take place.

If I am not mistaken did Dunne not get a nasty cut and will be out of action until March April, If I am mistaken I am sure Brian will correct me.

One of the "must have" fights, one I am really looking forward to. For the purist obviously but a real 50:50 affair between two similar fighters. I would give the edge to Dunne who I think is world class if he didn't have a chin issue.

He's only the same height as Dunne and I doubt he has a huge reach advantage(if any), you do realise Dunne is pretty big at the weight himself ?(despite being a bit frail)

He can if he wants to, But Monroe has be keep up to date with everything that is going on. He also knows that the offer is not real right now as Dunne is out untill end of march april time. Under the ebu rules Rendall has to do his mand. or be stripped, That why Mr Peters is making so much noise.If he was that sure about Dunne beating Rendall why did he not take up are offer to fight Monrose in the UK and he would now have the champ(or be fighting Rendall on Dec 18 in Dublin) and be able to do as he likes. Its the champion choice of were he wants to fight unless is a purse bid and the champs team lose it. Mr Peters is not thinking of his fighters career only his own TV company. We have no trouble going to Ireland to fight if the second offer reappears that was a 100,000 Euros and Mr Peters can get the ebu to agree to the fight going ahead before we do the mand. or if Dune and Peters want the fight so badly let fight with out a title on the line just a good old fashion 12 round fight.One other thing i do not worry about being involved in the promotion all i worry about is seening my fighter get the best deal, I get paid any way.

I suppose he wants to get the title shot all on his own terms, in front of the home crowd. Dunne has been looking good since coming back from the KO loss to Martinez. Good fight if it happens.

agreed mate, just can see Rendall gradually walking and wearing Dunne down, Dunne may well be able to outbox him in flurries but Rendall's strength the main factor for me.

You are right on this one, but Dunne is not the champion so he cant call the shots. There is no promb. with us going to dublin. Now with Darren Sutherland on our books and sky going to Dublin on 18 dec. We can all ways go back there for this fight. If it make money going on in Dublin we could stage it there ourselfs. So Mr Peters has no excu.But as we said there is the matter of Martinez next and Mr Peters knows that. That way he doing all this shouting anyway Dunne is out still end of march /april.Also there be 3 offers from Mr Peters and is gone down since the second one more games from Team Dunne.
