holyfield vs tyson.....big big fans of the 2 of them but when holyfield won , the crowd , the noise - it was amazing , same goes for the benn vs mcclelland , as a brit i have never heard such a noise from a crowd

setting your alarm for 3am to watch fights, or having all your mates round about 8pm to get on the beers for a 4am fight gettin pissed by midnight struggle to stay awake fall asleep about 3am then wake up about 6am missed the fight and 1 eyebrow down, priceless !!!!

Great thread, there is lots of things I love about boxing. The anticpiation, the excitment, the way the hairs stand on the back of my neck when the ring announcer starts the main event, when a Brit wins a world title.

Most of all I love the noise when a really good punch lands, like Enzo vs. Haye.

Most of all I love the fantasy of boxing, living your dreams through the boxers you adore, wishing it was you up there, imaging what it would be like to be Dirk De La Hoya.

You can't beat it!

I really like the way, unlike almost all other sports events, a single fight really, really matters.

A tennis player can have an off day, even in a Wimbledon final, and come back the following year, perform and it will be forgotten.

Not in boxing.

You get KTFO and it stays with you forever and people always remember it.

A boxing career is also much more of a story than other sports careers, with a beginning, a middle and an often sad end.

I've been watching Froch for a long time and in a couple of weeks I hope to be there when he reaches the top. I'll probably be there when he gets beat too. Like I say, a proper story.

I love watching sport full stop! I could watch England Vs Scotland at tiddlywinks and I'd get excited if we won and pissed off if we lost.... so watching my favourite sports stars in my favourite sport is just a massive exageration of those feelings. I'm a boxing junkie (amongst other addicitions). There's nothing like Fight Night for getting the blood pumping especially when you've got a fair bit of wonga on it (another addiction).


I also love (and imitate) the confidence that some of the boxers show, I find it all highly entertaining and amusing, because they know that once they get in the ring it means fcuk all. I like the Gladiatorship of boxing..... basically I just fcuking LOVE boxing!!


PS. I LOVE annoying US fight fans as well, I think I've found my calling in life there

i love the fact that you can be a mile behind in boxing and still win with only a few seconds to go. football etc...if one team is miles ahead, then the result is a formality...but not with our noble art !!

Good thread. For me, it's that rare occasion when the actual fight exceeds even the incredibly high expectations you had, and you know you are witnessing a classic unfolding before your eyes; one you will return to many times, always in amazement.

I like "crossroads" fights, like the match between two of my favorite fighters, Bobby Czyz and Leslie Stewart. I really don't like KO's, but Stewart was a good puncher, dropped Czyz once, Czyz shook it off and won by decision. I was pulling for Stewart in that one.
