I'll say...nine. Oh, bollocks, ten.

10 out of 10 for Jones, 10 out of 10 for Hopkins, 10 out of 10 for Toney.

Although in Toney's case he wouldn't have been in his prime for 10 fights. Jones would have beaten the lot 10 times out of 10.

8 out of 10, let's not forget Calzaghe is still a good boxer with a decent chin and great stamina. and up until 5 years ago he was stopping guys as well. His power diminished years ago (hand injuries) but he's no mug.

JC hasn't messed up his body like RJJ has though, and fighters age at different rates. Like 43 Hopkins would embarres 39 year Jones..... have them at 35 and 31 and it would have been an convincing win for Jones.

As for Joe's punching power, I am really struggling to remember when Joe scored a decisive clean KO..... infact has he ever as a champion?

I actually cannot remember how the Veit (1) finished, was he on the canvas or was it waived off, but yes you can call that a clean TKO/Ko.

Sheika was a cut, was he even floored? Mitchell is quite famously a bit of a dodgy stoppage.

Yes, I remember Calzaghe KO'ing the usual list of imports and never will be's on his way to the top... and catching Eubank (a little cold) with a peach. The best shot of Joe's career - didn't put a dent in him after. Joe couldn't finish of "chinny" world class fighters like Brewer at his (Joe's) best.

He smashed Veit and knocked him down a couple of times, and Sheika was bashed up, he was all over the place. He stopped Veit in Germany as well.

I wouldn't say the shot he hit Eubank with was the best of his career mate, you seem extremely down on the guy.

Nobody put much of a dent in Eubank, or Robin Reid..

And I don't think anyone can argue that Joe's "best" was more recent than Brewer - v Kessler and Lacy for starters, he reached his peak late.

But I can't argue that his power diminished, a lot of it down to hand injuries, though he has put too much emphasis on that excuse IMO.

I don't feel the hands should be an issue as he's suffered with it since he was 14 punching a sofa for a heavy bag. Although they have obviously gotten worse over time. He's adapted his style to compensate his "disabilities".

I respect any fighter that does that.

If so, that is very harsh, IMO. I know it sounds mental but I think B-Hop isn't much past his best performances. And your fair point about Toney means he'd drop a few losses too!

Theoretically, Joe could be competitive as he is a highly talented boxer with excellent strength and a brilliant workrate.

However, I don't think Joe would ever allow himself to go in with a fighter like Jones. Unless, of course, that Joe was a champ, at the peak of his powers, and that Jones was ready to submit to all Joe's terms in order for a fight to happen.

Joe has been one of Britain's major names, and we need our fighters to do well. But imagine if he was in a different sport. Would he be able to duck ppl, to pick and choose the opposition? Joe is Rocky in Rocky 3, matched mostly vs patsies, prior to the Clubber Lang fight.

I mean, if Joe was so freaking great, what was he doing with that WBO strap fighting names like Giminez and Jiminez and Pudwill and McIntyre - all those years?

I think Hopkins is significantly better in 2001 than in 2008.... Calzaghe vs Hopkins mark 2008 was close - all Hopkins needed to do was a tiny bit more in a few of the rounds and he would have won clear... all he needed to do was "be busy doing nothing" and it would have been in the bank.

I agree on Toney... but I was putting it an hypothetical scenario on whether Joe would ever figure out a prime Toney in 10 attempts... my answer is no.

I don't know - it gets so confusing when arguing with Joe fans... when I mention the Kessler fight as being close- its cause Joe was past his prime. I think Joe was at his physical peak around the Brewer/Mitchell fights personally. Thats when his chin seemed to be at his strongest, and he was very impressive in these fights.

What was the best punch of Joe's career - honestly, I didn't mean for it to sound Sarcastic... it was a peach of a shot he caught Eubank with. Indeed, that performance for me remains his best.

The Veit fight in Germany was a corner pull out... not saying the Joe wasn't a tad unfortunate that he didn't get a clean KO in his championship career - but a conclusive one punch KO, he wasn't - unlike Jones.

At super-middle, I'm going to be controversial and say no more than seven. Jones was amazing, drugs or no, but so is Calzaghe - and the fact is that for the longest time Jones was looking amazing against guys that were every bit as much padding as the Will McIntyre's on Calzaghe's slate.

The reason most people thought that Calzaghe was facing a prime Jones Jnr was the fact that Jones Jnr was never really seen by the masses over here when he was in his prime.

I don't think 1 of his fights was shown by ITV or BBC
